New Orleans Voters Vote For Mayor

Matthew Borghese - All Headline News Staff Writer
New Orleans, LA (AHN) - New Orleans is voting for a new mayor, in an election which will decide who will rebuild the home of Jazz.
Polls in the Big Easy opened at 6 a.m. local time, Saturday, where incumbent Mayor Ray Nagin faces 20 challengers.
Nagin, 49, who was criticized along with much of the State and Federal government for their response to Hurricane Katrina, maintains, "I did the tough things."
"I fussed. I cussed. I got on the president, the governor, got things moving."
Yet, Nagin faces still competition by Louisiana Lt. Gov. Mitch Landrieu, and local businessman Ron Forman who has raised over $1.6 million for his campaign.
The election itself will be difficult. Louisiana Secretary of State Al Ater, whose office oversees election preparations admits, "It's a major undertaking, to say the least."
Alter adds, "I tell people we're in uncharted waters."
According to officials, New Orleans still has roughly 298,000 registered voters, despite the great displacement caused by Hurricane Katrina, eight months ago.
However, the multiple candidates, makes it unlikely that any one person will get more than the 50 percent of the votes needed to win the race uncontested, meaning a runoff between the top two finishers is very likely.
Do you think he'll be re-elected?

America has done an excellent job of destroying the educated middle class so yes the slaves will vote for the loser again.

He is an idiot, and would probably do even more damage than he already has. So yeah, I think he is going to win hands down.

I personally think he is a racist piece of shit, and I would rate him in the same catagory as Strom Thurman or Trent Lott.

Nagin is the biggest fucking retard that has ever recieved a national forum. Of course, he plays the race card whenever he gets a chance; I saw him on the news the other night talking about how all the black people should vote for him.

That guy is a huge fucking racist and a moron on top of that, if he gets re-elected it will just prove to me that New Orleans shouldn't have been rebuilt after all. "New Orleans will be Chocolate again!!" Can you imagine the public outcry if a white mayor said he wanted an all white city? He would be deported or hung. Just another example of racial double standard in America.

I don't think he did a very good job... but unlike you guys I think he is what New Orleans needs. He wants to keep the prior residents, and he has more enthusiasm and lack of regard for higher authority when it comes to getting New Orleans back to the "chocolate" way it once was.

New Orleans needs a Mayor who is more a resident than a politician.
You guys are going to lose. You might as well just cheer for me, because Boston isn’t winning in Boston for the season opener. I’m sorry. " - Gilbert Arenas
