Getting fired

tit had a job at a vet clinic for 3 days and the dick vet fired her, and she doesn't know exactly why. He'd never been exactly mean to her, but he's never been particularly friendly to her either. I never liked the guy from the moment I met him but she figured she would like him and that it was an excellent oppurtunity for her, which it would have been. 3 days after working she gets a call and he says not to take it personally (yeah right!) but that she didn't have enough experience. She never did anything wrong, and certainly there was a learning curve to getting used to working at a new place, but after 3 days he fires her!

So obviously she's both sad and mad and confused all at the same time. And we're uncertain what action to take now.

I personally want to go in there and raise hell and flip desks and punch his sorry ugly face into the wall.

At first she just wanted to pretend it never happened and let it just pass. The more time that has passed though she's getting angrier and more hurt by it all

The middle ground would be to contact him, say that if there's something that she has done wrong that she might carry over to another job then she should know, and that she'd like more information as to what she could improve on.
Then I could bust through the door and punch his sorry ugly face into the wall.

Personally I think the asshole could have given her more of a grace period to get used to the place and tell her as she went along what was wrong. I hate that asshole so much

So for those more experienced than myself, what do you think we should do now?

suck it up and move on...

If it was a large corp, you would have two different avenues to take, but that doesn't seem to be the case.

Probably found a niece or friend of the families kid to work for cheap. I wouldn't even sweat it.

Was she doing clerical work or just cleaning cages?

This sounds like the more mature way of dealing with it.

Getting fired sucks, been there.

It really just sounds like a feeble excuse just to make an opening for someone cheaper, because I am sure he knew from the get go how much experience she had. Maybe his wife saw her and got jealous and said "No you are not going to have a pretty young woman working in your office."

thank you, this is more acceptable. This certainly isn't the situation where I feel like joking and I certainly don't need help feeling worse about the situation

exactly. He got her resume 2 weeks before he called her to say she was hired. He knew exactly how much experience she had, and she has no shortage of work experience (although outside of a vet's office). She can't exactly volunteer all her life, she has bills to pay (and yet she still finds time to volunteer!).

And as a side not, his wife also works at the clinic. I don't know what this implies though

Sorry to hear about the mess Crono. Even though I pick on Tit a lot I always want the best for her. (That's why I keep telling her to leave you for me.) Give her my best.

If she has a problem letting it go, she should call and ask for help understanding this so she can 'do better' next time (fill in your own scenario).

she has the right to know why she was fired cause after all, she cannot be fired for no reason behind. Against the law.

Absolutely wrong and I am speaking from the US perspective here. If you are employed "at-will" which a large percentage of the workforce is, then they can fire you for any ridiculous reason they choose (provided it does not violate discrimination laws --another exception is if you are a whistleblower). Unless you signed a contract which guaranteed a given time period of employment, chances are you are employed "at-will." Ask her if she remembers signing any documents before starting work that said she can be terminated at any time for any reason.

An example shown in my law class of a seemingly wrongful, but legal, termination, was a clip in the beginning of the movie "The Cat in the Hat," where Sean Haye's character (the ridiculously gay dude from Will & Grace) is a germaphobe and fires the company's newest employee for shaking his hand. According to my professor, that is legal since it does not violate any contract or statuatory laws.

Other than folowing Mudge's advice and asking for an explanaition, there's really nothing you can do.

Shrug it off and go on.

Hugs to Tit. She'll find something better, I am certain.
