High IQ

What does it really mean. I have an IQ of 155. But does that mean anything. No way. I'm about as smart in history as Elmer Fudd. Can O build a house with no previous knowledge. Yes as I did it. Can I take a car's motor apart and rebuild it with no schooling in auto mechanics. YES.

But what does this all mean. What it means is that each and everyone of us has his or her special talents that we are gifted in.

So does a IQ 155 mean I'm smarter then someone with a 120 IQ. I can't answer that as I see a lot of intelligent answers in certain area's and dumb one's in other.

The point I'm trying to get across here I have no idea. Just thought I would post something.

During my research career I worked with a brilliant molecular biologist whose IQ was 80 ( they told his parents he was retarded) and my cleaning lady for the office has a IQ of 160. Overall, I think Foramen is right in that it predicts the ability to learn but not what you necessarily will acclompish in life.

I also don't think it measures creativity.

I do think there is a cultural/learned component to it. For instance, supposedly Asians have higher IQs then the others. We test better in the visiospatial and mathmatical aspects of the IQ test but not the language communication area. You have to remember that when I was 6 we were learning three place division and from the age of three, drilled mercilessly in the caligraphy of the chinese language ( the characters I think excercise the viseospatial aspect of the brain.). That's why I don't give IQ tests a lot of credit.

Personally I know several people who are friends that I think are a lot smarter then me. then I have friends (maybe there just dummies) who think i'm the smartest person they know.

Like a few of you said, I'm also in the group that doesn't put a lot behind some of the testing. I do know in (not sure if it was the late 70's or early 80's) I tested at Prudential life insurance. Without ever looking at what there exam was about, i scored the highest ever on there test in that region. They told me my test score was in the top 3% in the nation.
