True Story, MTV globalized and privatized. It is a mass marketing machine that looks for "talent." Example: Some hot chick that has an OK voice. It then markets their image towards a demographic. Usually 12-15 year old 99%of the time. This is a lucrative crowd to market to, because they have yet to start using their cereberal cortex for executive processing (still using the old amygdala) and have also just hit puberty. Since they have no concept of music as an art, they buy pop music, and start developing social trends around it. One thing leads to another, and since this younger audience is both ignorant and has money to burn (since they have no bills to pay) they compile a collection of hundreds or thousands of pretty looking compact discs which contain BS tracks that some crack whore through together in one week.
Actually MTV doesn't even play music anymore. It's 99.9999999% "reality" shows.
