KelJu inspired this thread and i figured there are a couple of people here who can share the story behind their IM names.

My real name is Yan, and Yanick is a way of saying it in a friendly sort of way sort of like Robby instead of Rob Yanick (pronounced Yahn-eek) instead of Yan.

The English pronunciation "Kel" translates into the Hebrew word "lky" which means to prevail.
My grandfather, Papa Goldman, was Jewish. But, he allowed my grandmother to raise my 13 Aunts and Uncles Baptist.
My mother also strictly raised me as a Southern Baptist. I renounced my own Baptist faith when I was 14 years old. I was very depressed, and borderline suicidal. God didn't help me when I needed his help so I decided to give him the finger and live my life how I wanted to.
I couldn't cut my connection with God, because I had been brainwashed for quit some time. God was a deadbeat dad as far as I was concerned.
Since I couldn't cut my connection with god, I decided to embrace my Jewish linage in an attempt to at least get away from those fucking retarded Baptist.
I told my mom that I wanted to be Jewish, so that I wouldn’t have to go to church anymore. I even talked to my grandfather and convinced him that I wanted to learn about my Jewish Ancestry, so my mom really couldn’t tell me no. There are no Jewish Temples for a 100 mile radius of where I grew up.
My Jewish ancestry prevailed, and also saved me from having to go to church ever again.
Hence, the prevailing Jew.
KelJew sounds too much like "kill the Jew" which isn't what I want at all. Jew became Ju.
KelJu was born.

Yeah I know that story was way to fucking long. But, at least now I want have to keep telling people "It's a long story" when people ask me "wtf a KelJu is?"
