    Paleness and drinking

    For some reason after i have a few drinks ill get REALLY pale, does anyone know what that is?

    I'm not a doctor (but I play one in my shed), but isn't paleness a result of restricted circulation? An example would be when you're in a cold environment. The blood get shunted away from the surface to prevent heat loss.

    So wouldn't becoming pale after drinking indicate either a change in body temperature or change in blood pressure? Neither of which would be good.

    I'm not sure how beer could change your temperature enough to cause shunting.

    So, the likely culprit is a change in blood pressure. This could be caused from a change in output from the heart. Does you heart rate slow down? One of the long term physiological affects of consuming alcohol is arterial sclerosis. This is a hardening of the arterial walls which would result in constricted blood flow.

    Again, I'm not a doctor, but I hope this helps.

    Actually I remember reading that alcohol lowers your body temperature and slows your heart rate and breathing.

    I concur. Becoming pale for other than environmental reasons should be taken very seriously. It's the most basic function on which nearly everything else in the body relies on.

    Seems odd. Might have something to do with the temperature of the alchohol you're drinking? Are you drinking cold beer or ( god forbid ) warm beer? Or just liquor? If you're drinking it warm, try it on the ice. This might help?
