For those who don't know anything about the comic books and the characters, the black figure is Venom:

I thought venom was like a different character entirely? Here they are saying it is like a thing within himself that he is like battling himself. Can anyone explain how that works and stuff? And is the Hobgoblin Peter's friend, or someone different?

Venom is Eddie Brock, a reporter who's jealous of Parker/Spiderman. He got pissed when one of his newspaper stories was proven wrong by Spiderman and then he turned into Venom, who is half alien or somethin.

An alien symbiote attaches itself to Peter Parker. It becomes his new suit and comes with web shooters (in the comic, Spider-man's web shooters are devices).

Later Spider-man realizes that the alien is bad (I forget why). He gets the alien off himself and leaves. Then the alien attaches to Eddie, who hates Peter Parker, and they become Venom.

In the comic, Venom is faster and stronger than Spider-man, plus he doesn't trigger Spider-man's Spider Sense. He also, obviously, knows Spider-man's real identity. He's also quite insane and pretty damn funny.
So many cries of inequality stem from one of group
of people doing little or nothing and then bitching
about another group that actually does something
    to improve their lives.

Yep, Hobgoblin is Harry Osborne. You remember he found his father's shit at the end of the sequel.

I loved them both. My only complaint about two was that everyone found out his identity.

Batman pwnz them all. If galactis was trying to eat the planet, Batman would throw a bat shaped boomerang at him, and pwn him.

Batman is from DC (Dumb Comics) and Galactis is from Marvel comics. How could you not know this.

A true fan sees beyond different comic book universes, and into the comic book muti-verse if you will.
