If you work for min. wage 60 hours a week you still make 1442 dollars a month and when your wages are that low your getting tax breaks and subsidies. The issue isn't with the governement, its with a little thing called personal fiscal responsibility

Conversely, there are many other countries where you can work all day long, and expect to die young and poor.
So many cries of inequality stem from one of group
of people doing little or nothing and then bitching
about another group that actually does something
    to improve their lives.

    Big Topic:

    Some Positives (+)

Freedom of Speech (Schenck v. Unites States, 1965)

Low taxes (compared to other nations, although I think U.S. taxes are too high).

    Freedom of movement

    Private property

    Independent (mostly) judicial system.

Large - you can move to Sunny Florida or up to Alaska

Focus on individualism (to a degree)

    Negatives (-)

    Corporations has diprportionate power

    1% own alot; 10% own a lot; Top 30% own a lot

    Media controlled by corporations; oligarchies

Waste more energy than any other nation/people on Earth

Materialism; shopping mentality, high per capita debt ratio

Government - military - Business = act as ONE

    Big government that encroaches on

Well as much as I would love it to happen I don't see welfare, medicaid , medicare, and low income housing going away anytime soon. You think someone who is living on minimum wage would try and better themselves in hopes of earning a better wage.

Sorry lad but many work 2 jobs and take care of kids or older family...how the hell are they going to have the time or money for school......plus jump up college attendance 500-1000% and just see what happens to your middle class jobs ....You speek as a person who has been spoon fed all your life....wake up son. Most of the American rich built their fortunes off the blood and death of the slaves and poor.

Rarely! And when they don't, it's someone else's fault.

Most minimum wage require little mental competence, hell my first job I have ever had made 10 bucks a hour. Subsidies are crutches for the dems to control the poor. You don't have to college to improve youself, hell the other thread was talking about tilelayers making more then 20 bucks an hour. Go into a poorer neighborhood and you'll be amazed at the rims, soundsystems, lifts, etc. there are and then tell me fiscal responsibility isnt the problem.

Also I've been working since the day I turned sixteen, to say that I'm spoonfed from some guy from around the world is comical.

I never said the poor spent their money well....that is another topic and I think you will find that people of all social classes spend money like it's water. And spoonfed in that you see the world from your social class and have no idea what it's like to be poor.

If Wal-Mart is the largest employer in the United States, and the retailer is overwhelmingly selling goods made in China. . .isn't it quite possible the way to better themselves will be to have to move to China?

I guess so, then we could cut subsidies, but then who would drive my bentley for me?

I got news for ya - many middle and upper income positions don't require much mental competence either - that's why so many people get access to those positions because they stuffed envelopes in a campaign, or play a good game of golf, or travel in the correct social circles, or their daddy owns the business or they are just plain good at kissing ass at the right social gatherings. Of course, welfare for corporations, or for good buddies isn't considered welfare - it's just an old boy network for the rich. . .and when they are being irresponsible by hiring inefficient buddies, the government just bails them out or offers them corporate welfare.

Also I've been working since the day I turned sixteen, to say that I'm spoonfed from some guy from around the world is comical.
Some people have been working since they were younger than that - or held two jobs to make ends meet and didn't have any time to pursue "bettering" themselves. Some people are told they have to get a degree to even get an entry-level position, but others - if they know the right people, can somehow get in the door anyway. The most popular pre-employment cliche of the Reagan era wasn't personal responsibility - it was pad your resume and know the right people.

Poor people are poor largely by their own devices. We live in a time when any person can finance their own college and graduate education, especially if you are a minority. College institutions are fighting over minorities, just begging for them. Meanwhile, someone who does make something out of themselves ends up earning maybe $120k a year, and payes 11 times as much in taxes as the dip shit who got his highschool diploma and got a job at taco bell. Yet somehow they still feel like they can guilt trip me, or blame me for their fucking situation. America is fucked up. Its fucked up because its full of communists who envy material possession, yet dont have the backbone to make something of themselves.

Hey foreman, why don't you tell us all about how your daddy's a doctor, and how you have a trust fund, right after lecturing everyone about not understanding the hardships of poverty.
