How fast have you been in a vehicle?

I've hit 135 in my 01 Cobra. Thought about going faster, but the roads were way out in the country and I didn't know them all too well. I've grown up since but that was pretty sweet. It took awhile to slow down though...

About 140-150 mph in a bored-out '68 Ford Thunderbird. I'm not sure about the speed because the speedometer tops out a 120 mph. I did this at 2AM on the Foothill Freeway back in 1991.

Back in '97 I did 110 mph in a four-popper Camary. I went from Mesa, AZ to Las Vegas, NV in 4 hours and 15 minutes. It's is (was?) the deadliest road in the nation.

I broke into the 150s once when I was running from the police (Stupid, I know), but I don't know the exact speed because I was more focused on the road ahead, heh. The car was a 96' Eagle Talon TSi AWD, which is significantly modified.

    Did you get busted?

My grandfather out ran the cops on several occasions in a 70 Chevelle SS that was worked over. Cops have obviously updated their chase procedures though... That car was freakin insane! In absolute mint condition he sold it for $15,000 a few years ago. I tried my best to step in to stop him.

I outran them, but right as I was getting off the highway I got cut off (Partly my fault for speeding, but this guy definitely would've caused me to slam on my brakes had I been going with the flow of traffic too) and I swerved out of the way only to lose control. Thankfully I spun a bunch of times and lost a lot of speed before I crashed. A few minutes later the cops caught up to me. I would've got away too, bleh.

My buddy was driving...130 in a Kia Spectra in 5 PM rush hour traffic. When I look back I know I was amused and laughing about it, but now when I think about it, it was pretty stupid. Could've killed ourselves or someone else. We eventually got caught by a state cop, who was in an unmarked car and was out of breath when he came up to the car. He said it took him 5 miles to catch us. My buddy ended up getting like a $400.00 ticket and lost his license for a year.

180 MPH in a 2007 Porsche 911 GT3 RS, I do not travel this fast normally but a cop was tailgating me till I hit 160. If it was my car I never would have gone that fast.

130+ in my '79 RS Camaro. The speedometer only went to 130, when I passed 130 I heard a crazy winding sound. Aparently I over-extended the speedometer and it began spinning 360 degrees until the pointer snapped off. So we'll just leave it at 130+. 124 in my current car, that's where it hits the limiter. 130+ in my '93 mustang 5.0 notchback.

The speedo was somewhere between 160 - 170mph on my Sportike...the dashed lines on the highway were solid.....

First of all, why do you guys feel the need to drive so fast? Are you trying to look cool and impress your friends or something? I totally understand if you are alone on a straight-away highway or in the desert, but if you are in traffic, what is the point? Are you looking for a death wish?

Those of you that have tried to get away from cops, why are you risking it? The odds of escaping are slim to none. Have you ever seen the show "Cops" and the high speed chases they show? I'd rather take a ticket than get caught trying to get away from them and spending a night in jail or risk dying in a terrible accident.

I'm not bashing anyone here, but it baffles me that some of you have gone faster than 120mph. If you want a real thrill, go on a fast roller coaster.

It isn't exactly fun if there's a risk of death involved. One little slipup such as a sharp turn causing the car to swerve or a tiny object on the road suddenly causing your tire to pop and lose control can kill ya.

There are other things you can do for fun but that is my opinion. If driving fast is fun for you, then so be it.

I agree with you man... If I had a family and someone going like 100 or faster drove by me, I'd be pissed. If I saw that they crashed, I'd be happy that a dick like that was off the roads. That shit belongs on the track and I regret ever being in a car that was driving recklessly and puttin others in danger.
