$600 with games up to $100! I had a pre-pre-order in, but I'll be sticking strictly with the 360 this round...

I always try and wait as well. It's smart if you're not jonesin for something. I even do that with larger purchases. Same for sports games...

The 360 is going to have more backing this time around. It's easier to develope games for and pretty close to the same in the power department. It will be hard to tell the two apart graphically... I saw no reason to wait.

They screwed up this time. I wouldn't pay $100 for ANY game. That's not the price of every game but I imagine the better games will be around that mark. The $600 for the system is high as well, but for all it has to offer I would consider it. The game prices completely turned me off...

i question that, ps3 has 2 more cell processors than the 360, and the Wii has 1 more than the 360. I have a feeling Microsoft is going to be kicking themselves for releasing so early.

Overall though, its gonna be the Wii that is the most versatile and innovative, in my opinion.

I'm just stating what I've read and been told at EBgames. The Wii won't even be close to the other two systems. The graphics will be slightly better than the original XBOX. That's part of the reason it'll be $250... Plus the game lineup sucks. 360 is the way to go I'm telling ya.

    E3 2005: Microsoft's Xbox 360 vs. Sony's PlayStation 3
With Sony's specs out, Microsoft has sent us its a comparitive analysis. What's the outcome?
    by Douglass C. Perry
May 20, 2005 - It's 3:30 pm on Friday, May 20, the last day of E3. The fine PR folks from Microsoft, who invited us to their headquarters a week before E3 to show us their system, their specs, and the grand design behind their powerful new Xbox 360, have just sent us an urgent notice to update our specs with new information. Earlier in the day, we were sent a comparative analysis of the Xbox 360's power vs. the PlayStation 3's power.

We decided to put this Microsoft-provided information up undigested. Thus, enclosed is a Microsoft-made comparitive analysis. We have not altered, added, or tinkered with the data. We have not interpreted the specs. We have cut and pasted this information from the email into our site and formatted it. Make of it what you will, but be clear we know Microsoft has clearly slanted this info, and we're not endorsing it, just printing their version. There is a difference.

    XBOX 360 / PLAYSTATION 3 PERFORMANCE COMPARISON

    SUMMARY
Now that the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 specifications have been announced, it is possible to do a real world performance comparison of the two systems.

There are three critical performance aspects of a console:

    Central Processing Unit (CPU) performance.

The Xbox 360 CPU architecture has three times the general purpose processing power of the Cell.

    Graphics Processing Unit (GPU) performance

The Xbox 360 GPU design is more flexible and it has more processing power than the PS3 GPU.

    Memory System Bandwidth

The memory system bandwidth in Xbox 360 exceeds the PS3's by five times.

The Xbox 360's CPU has more general purpose processing power because it has three general purpose cores, and Cell has just one.

Cell's claimed advantage is on streaming floating point work which is done on its seven DSP processors.

The Xbox 360 GPU has more processing power than the PS3's. In addition, its innovated features contribute to overall rendering performance.

Xbox 360 has 278.4 GB/s of memory system bandwidth. The PS3 has less than one-fifth of Xbox 360's (48 GB/s) of total memory system bandwidth.

    CONCLUSION
When you break down the numbers, Xbox 360 has provably more performance than PS3. Keep in mind that Sony has a track record of over promising and under delivering on technical performance. The truth is that both systems pack a lot of power for high definition games and entertainment.

However, hardware performance, while important, is only a third of the puzzle. Xbox 360 is a fusion of hardware, software and services. Without the software and services to power it, even the most powerful hardware becomes inconsequential. Xbox 360 games—by leveraging cutting-edge hardware, software, and services—will outperform the PlayStation 3.
May the Lord Jesus Christ bless those who bless me as I gladly accept their blessings, and curse those who curse me all the while protecting me for any evils. In Christ name, amen...

Why do you think they call it Xbox LIVE?

Live action. I enjoy talking to 12 year olds... Actually it seems most gamers are 16-30. Sometimes it's a lot of fun. I've had and heard some funny ass conversations on live. You get a few idiots as well. Mostly Canadians...

    That's my plan.

A while back, I was thinking about getting one on release, since I could, and then selling it on ebay to make a profit.
But I really dont want to go through the hassle..

    Can someone say NEO GEO?

I read about this system in....shit I think electronic gaming monthly. It had a section comparing all 3 systems.

Its $499 for the base system and $599 for some extra. Hmm, I could be mistaken. Maybe the extra system is $699.

I think $399 is too much. They were talking about cost value of certain systems and comparing their prices to what theyd be like back then. According to them, these are reasonable prices because of whats being offered. And when looking back at the Super Nintendo valued at $199 it would be around $399 now. Eh, still fuck that.

Ill wait until the price goes down, but by then I may not give a shit. Nothing beats a PC. Ive never played a game that was better in any way on a cole system than on a PC. At least shelling out $1K+ for a PC will give me a bigger bang for my buck.

The Wii didnt really excite me. I dont really care for the 'cool' new controller or the fact that it makes our lazy fat children get up and jump around.

The PS3 is a Blu-Ray Disc player that also plays games. I think Sony has screwed itself: PS3 is way too much money. No kids are going to be able to afford it, and parents aren't going to fork over that kind of cash during the holidays.

Their only real exclusive now is Metal Gear anyway.... I don't really understand why anyone would buy a PS3 over a 360. They're going to have most of the same games... and comparable graphics. Especially if Blu-Ray loses to HD-DVD, which may very well happen.

Wii & 360 for the price of a PS3.. pretty compelling to me.

Agreed... The only exclusives I want are Metal Gear(weird story lines anyway...), Kill Zone, God of War, WarHawk, Tekken, and Virtual Fighter. Many more XBOX exclusives that appeal to me than for the PS3.
