Are you kidding me? This is IRONMAGAZINEFORUMS.COM. Not verizonwireless.com.

Read your service agreement or call verizon.

Buy an unlocked phone on EBAY. Once your Verizon contract is up you can dump them and change to a carrier of your choice.

The activation fee for an unlocked phone is like 10x more.

Why would you buy an unlocked phone and then move to a new carrier? When you sign up with a new character they will give you a phone at a lower price than an unlocked phone.

    Huh?

If you already have service with a provider, how is there going to be an "activation fee"? You just simply slide your SIM card into the new phone and violla! Your activated! It worked for me

    Or am I missing something?

Nope Wit, you're not missing anything. As long as your current phone is equiped with a SIM card all you need to do is switch it out to an unlock (SIM card) phone.

    Easy peesy.

Ok.... the reason you buy an Unlocked phone is so you can use it (the phone of YOUR choice) with any carrier you choose. Example.... I have a Cingular 8125 PDA phone. This phone is expensive and (normally) ONLY available with Cingular service so if I ever change carriers, I cannot use my cool phone. However, by getting an UNLOCKED phone i can safely switch carriers and not lose the ability to use my expensive phone.

If you do not have it insured you have to pay full price for a new one.
If sense were common, everyone would have it.
