    Drinking

I feel as if I've outgrown drinking, at the early age of 20. In the past year, I've started to really get more and more into weight training, and my drinking interest went the exact opposite way. I used to be a fairly heavy boozehound back in high school, absolutely going wild with the stuff. Now I feel as if it only hurts my progress - and my taste for it is just nonexistant.

Has anyone else just completely lost their taste for alcohol after settling down with a new weight training mindset? It's not like I'm dieting away from it, I just completely don't want it. No interest in it at ALL, even when I'm out with my buddies who are enjoying some of the finest brews around. I feel like an old man...

I rarely drank before I started lifting weights, now it is even more rare.

Seriously. It's not that this is a bad thing - it just feels rather strange to lose complete interest in alcohol. I got another two years of school ahead of me, but I just can't say I'm looking forward too much to the partying. And it feels incredibly strange typing that.

I was never much of a partier, though I do get a little crazy if I do.

    I stopped in a chain-bar/grill place for some carry-out
    grilled chicken last Sunday...

There was this drunk fat guy there... Alone... with his laptop
doing fantasy football... Then as I waited with my iced tea...
He started up a conversation with the guys at the next table
(who, you could tell had no interest in speaking to him)

I heard him say he got there and started drinking at 1100am
and this was like 3:30 -

    Just an annoying drunk idiot

Thats why i dont drink heavy
And I dont drink light because I cant see the use in it

I've stopped drinking, too. I drank on the weekends of high school & college, but for the last 3 years now I drank (is that a word? ) about 3 times. I haven't had a drink in about 8 months now.

I lost the taste for beer, hate wine, and can't drink hard liquor. I don't miss it.. just not crazy about always being the driver when I go out.

I drink more now than ever!
I just make sure I eat while I drink, even at a party. Honestly, I take a subway with me, so that I don't catabolize!!
lol, I get made fun of here and there, but I don't care!

Whenever I am in a good cutting phase I dont drink but like once every 2 months. One of the keys to drinking is between a can of beer (12ounces) drink a glass (8 ounces) of water. Still get the buzz and keep from getting dehydrated. But yeah my brother turns 21 this Saturday so I am taking him out, wow Sunday is going to be a bitch for him! But as for the day before a workout I wont drink. I dont want my workouts to suffer because I want to be a complete idiot.

i drink once or twice a month on average. I can't take the hangovers anymore. I also have a girlfriend now so it's kind of a waste to go out to the bar and shit like that. If I was single it would probably be about 8-10 times a month. When i was 19 to 20 I was so worried about my diet being perfect that I basically never partied and missed out on a lot of good times. I figure I'm still young now and should go out every now and again. I just keep it under control.

Ditto. Friday fever anyone? Your at work, its 3-30 in the afternoon, you start to feel the need, the urge and the buzz knowing the weekend is approaching...and fast. You know it can only be complete with a good dozen beers, saturday too. I just go easy on one of those nights, so that i can still work out, on sat or sun. Weekend would'nt be complete with out it.

I hear that... I've drank 3 times this summer break, and almost didn't go out each time. Straight up didn't want to. I will almost be unwillingly throwin down brews this semester, cause I know I will be missing a great part of life - partying. I look forward to the parties, but not exactly the drinking. I just know I will regret it if I don't go balls out every now and then.. one life to live!

    Morphine and valium are better.
Coarse edged youth, the irish pendants string from their smiles
not yet plucked as to slacken the seams
and drag down the features of age,
no folds or creases from unkempt wear
    eyes of tranquilty, crystalline-beads
no sign of despair in their hair, nor their hearts
but oh they have yet to be experienced and that makes aging so very worth it...ML circa2012

As soon as the first trace of alcohol hits your brain, you cease
to build muscle, because it jerks up your hormone production
And you wont grow during sleep unless all the booze is flushed
from system before your brain tries to enter REM sleep
