Team Hoyt - Inspirational video and story

    http://video.google.com/videoplay?do...ceid=zeitgeist

    Website - http://www.teamhoyt.com/

Probably one of the best inspirational videos I've ever seen.

Stay past the first 45 seconds to get the idea, but here's a summary

Dick and Rick Hoyt are a father-and-son team from Massachusetts who together compete just about continuously in marathon races. It’s a remarkable record of exertion — all the more so when you consider that.

Rick can't walk or talk. I suggest you all watch the video.

Back when I was into running long distances, I entered a half-marathon that the Hoyt's had entered. It was an out-and-back, and somewhere around the 5 mile mark, as I was running downhill, I saw Dick at the about 8 mile mark, running uphill and pushing his son in a wheelchair. Talk about inspiring. The people watching along the way were applauding them, but that applause was nothing compared to what they received at the awards ceremony.

    Good post, shiz!

yea, they show thier story every year during the ironman marathon.

amazing! the father is absolutely amazing.

It is sad when the father says he wishes his son could get up and go out and play ball with the other kids and then they ask the kid what the first thing he would do if he were able to walk and he types into the computer...."I would tell my dad to sit down. It is my turn to push."

They actually said that last year's Ironman would be their last because they didn't make the cutoff for the first time. It was really sad when you see everything that the father goes through. Great story of course.

Don't know if they are doing it again this year but I hope so. The father actually tows his son in a raft behind him for 2.4 miles swimming.

Doesn't the kid have brothers? Maybe they could replace their father or someone else (like a close friend) could do it if they're up for the task.

Sounds good on paper, but it will take some physical ability. Rick (the son) weighs well over 100 lbs. How fast can you run if you had to push that much weight in a wheelchair? Could you do it for 13 miles? How about 26? What if part of the race was uphill?

Not picking on you, shiz, just pointing out that some things are easier said than done.
