I brick tended one summer when I was in college. It's hard work. But, when you see the results of your labor, it's rewarding too. But, it's hard physical work and there are long days when the weather is bad.
Does anyone on this site work as a stone mason or know one?
Does anyone know anything about becoming a stone mason/ bricklayer?
I have always been interested in becoming one. I love working with my hands and find brickwork to be quite beautiful. Do you think it is worth while to pursue this (as I am 35 years old)? If I apprentice, I could get my ticket in 3 years (8 weeks of school per year). Maybe by 40-43 I could run my own business.![]()

Ask Arnie if he'll teach you.
Coarse edged youth, the irish pendants string from their smiles
not yet plucked as to slacken the seams
and drag down the features of age,
no folds or creases from unkempt wear
eyes of tranquilty, crystalline-beads
no sign of despair in their hair, nor their hearts
but oh they have yet to be experienced and that makes aging so very worth it...ML circa2012
