    The Video Game Thread

This summer has been rediculously boring for me. I've loved being home to see my family, and to get some good gym time in the books, but shit has it been a boring few months.
What's kept me busy was a few video games I've got myself into lately. Don't play that much though (don't ask me to play online with you, cause it'll be embarrasing).

I got into this game called Battlefield 2. It takes place in the modern day, and is played through first person. You control several different vehicles and weaponry where you fight on a huge map, able to support up the 64 people at one time (32 on 32... its like a war). A common example would be U.S. forces versus a Middle Eastern coalition in an abandoned city. Fairly realistic, with a huge aspect on team play(such as launching a coordinated attack with 6 troops in an APC).

I'm curious if there are any other gamers on this board. I'll post up some choices, to see what you guys play. Post up your top game. I probably hit the most commonly played games, but again I don't play too much - fill me in on what's new if I'm missing something.

EDIT - Multiplayer gaming is what I'm curious about

Last game I really got into was Enemy Territory Fortress. I still play CS:Source periodically, but maybe like an hour session a week or something at most really. I might get into gaming more when I get some better hardware. I'm a fiend for smooth gamplay, and my computer is crap.

I'll reword the original post - my intent was to ask you about multiplayer gaming (Xbox live I guess could count).

I attempted to play CS:S yesterday. To say the least, I got 0w3nedz0red. I played the game years ago, before it a big hit at all - it still hasn't changed THAT much as in gameplay wise... shows how it was such a game from the start. But shit, WAY too many good players on that nowadays. I'd scope through the buy menu just to get sniped in the face!

Yeah, I did miss UT. Should have got that one - anyone know how to add to the poll? I couldn't figure it out.

I bet more than 80 percent of online gamers have a preferred game on this list - don't you?

i used to play rainbow six: rogue spear online but that was way back in the day. i like the feel of tom clancy games. i haven't played any games but an hour or two every couple of weeks of some ps2 game (madden, san andreas etc)

i also sometimes play CS (don't know which version or w/e) at my buddy's house. but i hate that shit because these fuckin nerds sit home all day and play the damn game to get so good that if you don't play regularly you can't do anything, ever. i usually get mad and throw the mouse, lol.

Realistic online racing simulators are the only ones for me. rFactor is a download only (for 30$ or so) then look for mods that replace existing vehicles with Porche, Beamer, F1 and about 10 others or more. Warning its not arcade'ish so dont expect to take turns wide open. The guys that make the mods use actual cars to get the physics correct. Theres got to be 50 tracks around for download for free. Average age for most of us is 36.

PC based no xbox. Good video card and internet required.

Ran in a few leagues. Its great when you know the other drivers and respect each other. Known some for 6 yrs.

Anyone can afford a day at the range with pea shooter. Renting a race car and track for the day on the other hand...priceless

Damn...I wish I had a good PC. I'm a huge racing simulator fan as well, and love to play online. I'm waiting for Forza Motorsport 2 for the XBOX 360 and Test Drive Unlimited (although not a simulator really) to get my kicks.

That's kind of the point - the vast majority of online gaming takes place on a PC. I think Gamespy was registering over 50k players on CS every second of the day. It was something outrageous like that. PC games work worldwide, where Xbox live and shit like that is mainly nationwide. Post your favorite game, instead of complaining!

I'd say the poll is fairly accurate... the number of votes outweighs the unlisted votes at least 2:1.. maybe more
