Foreman, When you die it may be from the steroid use, which you combined with training to make training better. He used danger to make education on animals better. It helped him do what he loved. So when you die would you like people to be saying that about you?

Steve was an extrordindary biologist and conservationist. He did a lot to help preserve the coral reef and coastal ecology of many parts of the world, not just his homeland. His wife was from Eugene, OR. When he visited the US, he was very accessible to his fans, and often spent his vacation time promoting preservation ecology.

As Boilermaker mentioned, he was a gifted public speaker, enthusiatic and very knowledgable (if you spoke with him, he really did know his shit, as opposed to most of the Hollywood types).

He took a lot of calculated risks. This one was completely freak; had the barb pierced his ribcage, even deflating a lung, he would have survived. That it hit a fist sized target is bizarre. Odds are very much against anyone dying this way.

Death would be have been rapid, but not instantaneous. I'm sure the irony wasn't lost on Steve.

cops throw themselves into dangerous situations every day so do our soldiers. it's call percieved danger and it is a risk men sometimes take to do great things. Irwin saw educating the masses as the mainline drug of getting us to care. more people probably learned to be aware not only of the animals he showcased but of their need for habitat etc from him in recent years than any other source. he may have put his kids in situations that made a pussy's nuts tighten up but he knew his shit well enough to assure their safety. shitty parent my ass.
