I think, assuming that I didn't have a crushed sternum, that I'd grab the nearest bar and take that spotter guy to school.

I watched it about 20 times, it looked like he just let go. Why the fuck would someone use that grip anyway?

I read that since your thumb is wrapped around the bar, it is pushing downwards to grip the bar, while the rest of your body is pushing upwards. I guess it can affect the lift a bit? Just something I read. I don't use it myself though.

One of the trainers at my old gym gave me a spot once, and was trying to talk me into using that grip. It didn't affect my lift much, but it felt weird so I didn't use it again.

i think its more the lifters fault. I spot and lift the same way(except the grip). I dont like fuckers touchin the bar when im lifting heavy; i want to know that i am lifting all of it.

We have opposable thumbs and still this guy wants to "hoof it"????
Coarse edged youth, the irish pendants string from their smiles
not yet plucked as to slacken the seams
and drag down the features of age,
no folds or creases from unkempt wear
    eyes of tranquilty, crystalline-beads
no sign of despair in their hair, nor their hearts
but oh they have yet to be experienced and that makes aging so very worth it...ML circa2012
