Nope. And even if there was a god and he came to me and told me he existed I would still not worship him or follow a religion. If God is a true and just god, one truely worthy of worship, he would not want it. A benevolent god would not want people to worship him. If God wanted worship he would be unworthy of worship.

I think that as long as you live your life with morals and values you succeeded where many have failed. You don't need God or religion for those things, just a brain. Everyone knows what is right and what is wrong. Peaple make decisions, some good and some bad. It is important that you learn from those mistakes and don't repeat them. Life is to short to spend time worshipping a God that may or may not exist.

Let's say that there is a God and someone died that did not acknowledge God's existence or followed a religion (On a sidenote, I see people all the time that belong to a religion but do not have any faith at all), but this person lived a good life and upheld his morals and values. A true God would let him into heaven. At least that is the way I see it.

If there really was a god we would not even be able to make assumptions like you are of how he/she/it/all would act and what he/she/it/all would want, IMO.

Religion, the hope of heaven, the fear of hell,

The world is a wonderous place and seeing things of beauty and also the destructive force of nature must have scared early humans...

Hell we've only been living out of the cave for about 10,000 years or so... we've only been using electricity for 100 years or so

Its easy to see how people would still carry superstitions that have been around for thousands of years, its generationally hardwired into us like animal instinct

This was all a novel idea created to scare people into having a sense of morals and it worked, but people just need to get along now and religion is in the way... although some of its lessons are age old and can benefit mankind, the organizations who tout religion usually have alterior motives

so, I vote NO there is no such thing as heaven or hell

I think God exists for those who want him/her to but for me I think it is a lazy way to make sense of the world. Too many people base their lives around that question and still are jerks. I try not to get wrapped up in beginings or endings, all I care about is the middle part.

Very true! You can't make presumption based on something you can't possibly comprehend. It would be similar to saying insects understand humans. It's just not possible.

The notion I hated the most about religion growing up was you have to have "faith". I understand it now.
