Arrow I saw The Departed last night..

    And was quite pleased!

I still cant see Nicholson as a mob boss, but I loved his dialogue.

    Jack: Hows your mom doing?
Some asshole: Shes on her way out..
Jack: You all are. Act accordingly.

Leo's accent wasnt as bad as his Irish accent in Gangs of Newyork. His character was pretty good, but something was flawed.

Marky Mark was actually a delightable asshole. Very nicely done and believable. Alec Baldwin's character too.

Matt Damon's character was maybe the best. His character reminded me of Good Will Hunting (only cuz of his accent) and School Ties. Perfect fucking backstabbing jerkoff.

I must say, though I enjoyed the movie intensely, I had to ask my date, "are we sure this is a Scorsese movie?" The music and violence were the only things that reminded me of the director.

Only things I really didnt like were the fucking advertisements everywhere (you wont survive without a cellphone) and the ending.

On a side note, has anyone seen the new Texas Chainsaw movie? I really want to know about that!

If you couldn't see Nicholson as a mob boss, how did the movie flow with one of the main characters being only a voice. I just got Lasik, maybe that could help you out.
If sense were common, everyone would have it.

Farrow said don't waste your money, and he's a huge horror fan. He's a film major and tends to like shitty low budget films, but this one apparently didn't make the grade.

hey Akira, if you liked The Departed, I highly suggest you check out Infernal Affairs, the Hong Kong original in which The Departed was based on. I have been wanting to see The Departed ever since I heard it was coming out and who was going to be working on it. The original has been one of my favorite movies and has spawned both a prequel and a sequel.

Check it out and let me know how it compares. I will give everyone my review once I see The Departed.

I liked the last one..but it didnt have replay value. Not sure what was missing, besides being able to see Jessica's bare tits.

Texas Chainsaw always seemed to me to be a great story that just was never put together nicely. I mean even the very first one. I liked the beginning, but when you get to the part where they sit down to eat with the family, eh, its just not scary anymore.

Id rather scream "holy shit" than whisper "ew."

I thought the movie was great. Jack will no doubt get an Oscar nomination for this one.

I do like his films...which is why I didnt feel this one had a Scorsese touch. Actually, a 'touch' is all I sensed.

I finally watched this for the first time last night. I thought it was great besides the disappointing ending. DiCrapio and Damon were both awesome, although I would've liked to see actors that were slighlty older.

I like that they did an organized crime movie without Italians or Cubans. I like that they made Jack a mob boss, I'm sick of the Pacino and DeNiro stereotypes....

I think that Leo and Matt did outstanding jobs....It's good to see Leo doing stronger roles he was one of my favorite actors for a while from Gilbert Grape to Total Eclipse then he started doing Romeo and the Titanic and I gave up on him...
Coarse edged youth, the irish pendants string from their smiles
not yet plucked as to slacken the seams
and drag down the features of age,
no folds or creases from unkempt wear
    eyes of tranquilty, crystalline-beads
no sign of despair in their hair, nor their hearts
but oh they have yet to be experienced and that makes aging so very worth it...ML circa2012

I was going to post in this thread right after I had seen The Departed but I forgot. I was really disappointed with it; no where near as good as the original(s). A lot of scenes were copied directly from the original, but weren't as good. I don't know anyone whose seen both movies and who likes The Departed better. They really messed up the ending. In the original movie, (don't read below if you don't want the original ending spoiled)
