How I spent my day...or another one bites the dust
started out with standard fire training on the side of hwy 9, 1 mile west of 35 doing a drafting drill
then
A whole pack of 20 somethings were racing their rice rockets downhill on highway 9 towards San Jose when something went wrong and one went over the centerline where he hit a chrysler 300 head on then got run over by the 300's wheels
we were first on scene with our rescue as our rill was less that 1.5 miles from the crash followed by a CDF engine and Engine 30 out of Saratoga. Our second engine shut down 9 at the summit & 35 and our 3rd engine set up an LZ for Life Flight....
Bugger was in bad shape when he left in the Ambulance
But We did our Jobs right!!!!

Mercury News
An unlicensed motorcycle rider is in the hospital with bruised lungs and a ruptured spleen after he lost control of a borrowed bike and slid it under a Chrysler near Saratoga this afternoon.
Witnesses to the crash said the rider, George M. Velasquez, 20, of Castroville, was riding a Kawasaki motorcycle at a high rate of speed when he lost control.
The bike slid on the roadway and under an oncoming Chrysler on north Highway 9 about 11:17 a.m.
The roadway was closed in both directions for about an hour and 20 minutes as Velasquez was airlifted out and officers investigated the crash.
Velasquez, who was wearing a helmet, is expected to survive.
Good for you man.
Some idiots have no idea how to drive... I used to drive a sport bike, and that is the last thing you want to drive hard without experience. I feel sorry for the guy, but this shit happens to often. Immature riders make immature decisions and shit.
Good work though man, it looks you like guys were right on time (thank goodness).
My mates uncle died yesterday on a Yamaha R6. Similar sitcho he layed the bike down to save it and slip under the wheels of a semi. The semi driver locked up the brakes and he got stuck under the wheels. Was trapped for 3 hours then died.
