Coarse edged youth, the irish pendants string from their smiles
not yet plucked as to slacken the seams
and drag down the features of age,

Jesus it's easy. It predicts the common words out of the combination of 3 letters on each key in order. For example say you wanted to type 'home', you'd go 4-6-6-3, that could also do 'hoof' and 'good'... and 'gone', fuck this was a bad example... To chose which one you want theres usually a "next" key which cycles through the words of that number combination .

I don't text, I figure I have a perfectly good phone in my hand maybe I should call someone and just tell them what I want to say....

Don't be stupid. Phones aren't meant for talking.

I always figured txting was for the younger crowd, cell phone use is forbidden in schools (atleast mine) and many jobs frown on it, so a quick text sent under the table or when you're really busy is pretty useful IMO

Yeh thats where I started texting, at school. Its also good to talk to girls as they sometimes tell you more in a msg than if you were on the phone.

    Talking is still the way

Ok, now that I get how it works... I used to just press the same key over and over thinking that was how it worked... Having given it a try, however, I don't like it... Many of the words I use are difficult to get to, or they're not available at all using this method...

Too "difficult" to get to? Most common words are going to be in there. Obviously you cant type "L0L pwn3d n3wbz0r!!@$%", however I have discovered you can "add" your own words.

Say you want to type something like ST240. Words like "street" or any other word beginning with st- will be in there, so begin as if you are typing them. Then, after you get st- in there hit SPACE then your delete/backspace button, and begin to put the remaining letters in there. Keep repeating the process above for each correct letter you add. As a bonus, if youre a loser like me, and you remembered you "added" a word you use a lot, all you have to do is put the first letter of it and keep hitting your next button and it will pop up! Amazing!!

There's some tips here on how to use it and some texting game too that might help you practice and get your fingers all loose and nimble. Typing with 9 keys has never been easier.
