Movie Moments That Tugged on Your Heartstrings

There was a thread posted about movies that made you cry a while ago but for this thread, I am talking about specific movie scenes that made you sad. Here are some that made me :

    - The scene where the locksmith's daughter gets "shot" by that storekeeper in Crash.

    - When kid Simba is talking to Mufasa's body after the stampede in The Lion King.

    - When Meg Ryan gets hit by the truck in City of Angels.

    - When one of the little boys gets shot in the foot with a gun in City of God. It seemed so real.

What are some of your favorite sad movie moments.

That Lion King scene was very sad!

The end of Armageddon when Bruce Willis hits the button and the camera zooms into his eye and he sees himself playing with his daughter etc. That shit makes me get a bit choked up.

The end of Selena, hell even the song by itself does it for me.

Rudy - When he runs onto the field and gets his first and only tackle of the game and then gets carried off the field

Saving Private Ryan - When Tom Hanks is on the beach and all of a sudden he is looking around and seeing men get shot and killed. What's so good about this part is that they slowed everything down and it's nothing but music playing and the special effects

Braveheart - When William Wallace's wife gets killed but the last at the end when he yells out "Freedom" before getting beheaded was sad

John Q - When Denzel is about to give his son his own heart in the end of the movie and is talking to him

Rocky IV - When he yells out "I love you adrian" after beating Drago

Hey that one actually made me sad, but sad for a reason.

I gave my son a simple ball and he lost it in a little crack between the wall and floor in the closet, he cried like crazy and I tried as much as I could but I could never retrieve it.

Huh, how about movies that left you stunned after you saw them?

Four very different angles on warfare:

Apocalypse Now and Full Metal Jacket (Stanley Kubrick)

    Thin Red Line

    Saving Private Ryan

After each of these movies, the audience sat..quiet. Nobody jumped to their feet.

Thats when you know, its a great movie.

Platoon - when Elias dies, that iconic overhead shot with his arms out streched, on his knees with the vietcong leigons swarming around him like an incoming tide.
    One of my favourite films.

    Braveheart is a good one.

How about the part in The Rock when Nicolas Cage already disarmed the rockets and is waving the green flares and they just shoot the missiles at Alcatraz.

It is class. I always percieved that Oliver Stone was making a statement in his portrayal of the 'straight & aggressive' alcohol abusing GI camp with their country music and gambling and the 'free' dope smoking GI camp with their hedonistic, multicultural and easy going vibe. The music used seems to back this up.

It did a great deal, when your in a foxhole there is no color line.
The song with Smokey Robinson was good in that movie.

-Bruce Willis in the Sixth Sense at the end. Everytime I see the wedding vid of him and his wife..the cheek to cheek thing gets me.

-When the woman dies in Brainstorm and Christopher Walken plays back her recorded memories of her going to heaven...sending himself at the same time.

-The music being played when the Velociraptors attack the T-rex in Jurassic Park.

-Billy Bob making his touchdown in Varsity Blues.

    -When ET goes home.

-When the deathstar is destroyed, han solo never gets rescued, and when Luke 'saves' his father.

-When Phoenix bats the alien in Signs.

-When Peter Pan remembered how to fly in Hook.

    -When Jaws blows up.

-Kevin Spacey dying in American Beauty.

-Mel Gibson's wife getting her throat slit, when he gets betrayed, when he dies, and at the very end when the new king leads his men in Braveheart.

-Hmm, when Mel's gfriend dies in Lethal Weapon 2. (Mel Gibson does pretty good at this sort of shit)

Most of the scenes I buckle cuz of the musical score. I consider John Williams a genius for this.

    Misery
    That movie draws you in...
the scene where she 'hobbled' the writer...I tucked my feet under the chair.

But, when he slammed the typewriter on her...you were like; YEAH!, BITCH! DIE!

I mentioned it the day before:
    Passion of the Christ.
During the whipping scene..you find yourself gripping your armrests..and want to jump up and scream at the screen: STOP!

When Jesus is walking thru town with the cross on his back and he stumbles...his mother is there...I forget what was said..but that's where I lost it...I wasn't the only one. You could hear the sobs and sniffs all over the theater...
As I mentioned the other day...was a great movie...powerful...but I do not care to watch it again...

I will never watch passion of the christ again. That movie just makes me angry. It doesnt even have to be Jesus and I would still get pissed. No one should ever go through something like that, especially Jesus.

    The end of Rudy

the end of saving private ryan

    Simba dying in Lion King,

Denzel seeing Dakota Fanning for the last time when he saves her and she doesn't know he's about to die (Man On Fire)

that moment in Crash that is mentioned in the first post.

Shiznit, he is drawn and quartered in Braveheart, not beheaded. And wikipedia also says somehting about castration for the real William Wallace.

Braveheart, Armageddon, and Gladiator all get honorable mentions.

William Wallace's death in Braveheart, Bruce Willis blowing up the asteroid he is on, and the death of Russell Crowe in Gladiator where he's walking through the field and see's his family.
You guys are going to lose. You might as well just cheer for me, because Boston isn’t winning in Boston for the season opener. I’m sorry. " - Gilbert Arenas
