Yeah I took it about 8 years ago when it was NT 4.0. I didn't bother keeping up with 2K or 2K3 because it proved to be useless for my particular career path.

any body here been through any of it's exams???? "microsoft certified system engineer".. If yes I need to ask him a question regarding studying material please...I'D APPRECIATE IT

I guess you didn't look.
I gave up going after certs after NT 4.0
Look on the net for Testking, it has all the answers you need. If you cant find them, buy them on ebay for a couple of bucks.

yeah I have some of them , I actually downloaded a couple of pdf's and stuff but you know you're kinda lost at the beginning and you get confused from where to study , but I realised that it'd be benefical to read all of them and you'll always get new info as you read something different and at the end the most important part is practice using vmware and real practicing on real networks, thnx for your help...![]()
my bro is doing this right now, i think he passed like 5/7 tests already. he has a giant binder w/all sorts of stuff in there i'll ask him for the 411
"The greatest obstacle to knowledge is not ignorance but the illusion of knowledge." -Barry Marshall, Nobel Laureate

I went through the training using CBT's but never took any of the tests.

I could have easily taken and passed the 2000 tests...now that I look back I'm glad I didn't cause they still wouldn't have given me anymore of a chance at getting a job here in Hawaii after 9/11/01 the IT departments were lopping off heads left and right up until a year or so ago. It didn't stop me from opening my own computer repair/web design service on the side either...if you have the skill those certs are really nothing but a scam for people to make more money on suckers trying to get ahead in the game... especially all of the classes and books and other crap that people buy to pass these things when they could do just as well by studying on their own...jmo...
Coarse edged youth, the irish pendants string from their smiles
not yet plucked as to slacken the seams
and drag down the features of age,
no folds or creases from unkempt wear

no sign of despair in their hair, nor their hearts
but oh they have yet to be experienced and that makes aging so very worth it...ML circa2012
Not to mention that there are a ton of "paper mcse's" out there that really don't know jack shit. They spent 6 months in a lab that is so perfectly put together. This lab has very minimal network traffic and errors and they learn in a clean and perfect environment. Then they take their "paper" test with scenarios and pass but when the time comes to be in a real life situation or network crisis they fail miserably. Those certs have no comparison to real life experience and anyone that hires based on certs alone have their head up their ass.

So many cries of inequality stem from one of group
of people doing little or nothing and then bitching
about another group that actually does something
to improve their lives.

When I was in college they were giving these Cert's to guy's who couldn't even pass a basic Visual Basics course...I feared for the kind of yokels I would end up working with thats why when a chance to work outside of the computer industry came I jumped on it...it's a shame that when a job becomes a fad it draws in all kinds of imbeciles and schools to launch these imbeciles out hidden behind a shield of paper trying to hide the fact that they are imbeciles....![]()

I see it all the time. When someone comes to me to ask how can get in the field, I tell them to start at the bottom. Work your way from a desktop position on up because IMO, that is the only way people seem to actually have a clue of what's going on. Those people that jump careers using an MCSE and immediately expect to be a system admin needs an eye opener. I was involved in some interviewing late last year and will have to do it again in a few months. I dread reviewing the resumes with 0-2 years experience. But they have an MCSE so they must be top notch admins![]()

obviously experience is key, however many companies will require the cerifications along with a degree just to weed people out. it never hurts to get certifications, but at the same time it does not gaurantee anything either way, for you or the employer.
My mom passed a bunch of the MCSE exams. She also used Transcender programs. If my mom can pass them, so can you.
