Talking Words you see mispelled or used incorrectly.

    you're vs. your
    it's vs. its
    their vs. there vs. they're

I know there are more, maybe DOMS can help.

One of the most annoying misused words is "broke."

I couldnt drive my car today cuz my engine is broke. What, your engine ran out of money? It is BROKEN, dumbass!

"its" vs "it's" messes me up all of the time.
    "that's vs "that is"

Sayings that people misuse that piss me off.
"I could care less" when they mean to say "I couldn't care less". To say you could care less insinuates that you in fact do care and could care less than you currently do

    "affect" and "effect".
So many cries of inequality stem from one of group
of people doing little or nothing and then bitching
about another group that actually does something
    to improve their lives.

    "flaming homo" and "WitchBlade"

You might think that these are synonyms, but they're not. Flaming homos aren't that bad.

Yeah, I had a statistics teacher who tore my ass a new one every time I wrote down "atleast" as one word instead of two.

    Definitely.

That is far beyond a mere misspelling. Regardless and irrespective, take your pick. It's plain silly and sloppy to add the "ir."

These are words that people use when they're not really intelligent, but are trying to act like it. This ranks right up there with "per se."

I dont agree,, if you say "I couldnt care less", it means that you were not caring for a while but you reached a limit. If you say, "I could care less", it means that you dont care so much for something that even if you are not caring for it for a long time, you can still make an effort and care a little bit less.

What does per se mean? When I hear someone say it I think "in and of itself".

    He isn't guilty per se.

He isn't guilty in and of itself.

Are you talking about irrespective and regardless?

They are very useful: it's certainly easier to use them when appropriate than to find something else. Some words and phrases are used as a matter of habit, in some cases rightfully so. Things go wrong when we use words and phrases that we aren't accustomed to.

It means "of" or "intrinsically." Also think of it as inherent part of something.
