Yeah, as much as it is super bad ass, lifting with the suit just takes some of the glory away for me.

I know what you mean. I think suits should be banned. WTF are they still allowing those things for.

How does the suit increase what he can lift? I thought a suit just prevents injury ...

I don't think suits/shirts etc should be banned... The do help prevent injury AND increase poundage on a given lift... That being said, deadlifts don't get as much of an increase from suits as squats do.

Awesome lift. From what I understand, the suit doesn't help all that much on the deadlift, as Sean already stated.

Hard to say, but deadlift suits cannot be as aggressive as a squat suit, or the subject could not pick up the bar. I dont know if Andy wears anything other than his belt, and a singlet, which is required.

From his right side its hard to tell, it almost looks iffy. More than you have noticed this. However in the past he has BLOWN away his lifts, i.e. 933 deads he makes them look easy, then holds the bar for probably around 8 seconds to show everyone whats up.

I simply think this one was so damn close to a true PR for him, that it was just, that close. He held at the top so I'd vote that he locked out, and 3 judges present from various angles agreed unanimously.

It really was. I wasn't trying to take anything away fro mthe guy. I had read on either T-nation or bodybuilding.com a while back where they reported the guys being able to deadlift an extra 100lbs or more from the suits, and much more on squats.

Either way, the guy is badass, and he has nothing but respect from me.

I don;t understand how the mechanics of a suit would boost the poundage on any lift. What's it doing? looks like a thick shirt to me.

I don't either. I might just have to insert my "foot in mouth" on this one.

same principle as the bench shirt. they are basically really tight suits which sort of force you stand up straight (and help you get up to a straight position from a squat position), which is why the don't do much for a DL. For a squat you can use an aggressive/tight suit in which can't move because the weight of the bar on your back will help you get down in the hole, but if you use a very tight suit for the DL you won't be able to grab the bar at the bottom position.

its been said on here before that the nature of the DL is that its really the rawest form of lifting there is (straps can help, but they are illegal in competition).

yea, the DL suit doesn't help as much as the squat suit because you have to bend down to grasp the bar.

I don't know what they get out of the suit though....maybe 15lbs? 20lbs? 30lbs? it is not as much as the squat suit though.

Even if he is getting 50lbs out of the suit, that is still insane.

I think what is even more insane is the fact that he is holding half a ton in his hands (and pretty casually). There is nothing to help with that. That is pure strength!

Agreed. Not to mention, some of his 9xx pulls he showboated and stood at lockout for like 5 seconds firing up the crowd. Andy Bolton is a beast.
