    Being called a racist

So I live in the south, as many of you know the south is very diverse but mainly white and black. I own a condo in a college town here and have for sometime now. To make a long story short, a realestate investor bought up about half of the condos in my subdivision here. Instead of trying to rent them to college students, he took the easy way out and turned them into section 8 housing. For those of you that don't know what that is, it is where you rent to low-income people (not just families) for as bullshit price like $75 bucks a month, but the government picks up the rest. So in reality this asswipe is getting $800 per month per unit. Since this has happened my neighborhood turned into a war zone, drugs, robberies, shootings and a murder last night. The value of my home has dropped 39% in 5 months, so I went the association board meeting and brought this to their attention only to be called a racist. I argued that I'm not a racist but a father who would like to see his child live to become an adult. It was a fat unemployed black women and this man who caused all of this that called me out on the race card. What would you all do in this situation?

Move? Why keep moving? I hate seeing this, you can't always run away from everybody.
People need to take a stand and stop the crap.

This reminds me of when you know who came along the oldtimers left with there tail between their legs, there has to be something the community can do about that.

It's only going to get worse. It's like cancer, once it starts the only way you can get rid of it is to cut it out.

There's a nearby (predominantly white) city that had this problem. Someone (a private individual) turn his apartment complex into a bunch of low rent housing that attracted a bunch of Mexicans. A two block area surrounding it went down the tubes. The crime rate there was over 5 times anywhere else in the city and it was still spreading. So the city, using some form of eminent domain, bought the entire area and kicked everyone out. The Mexicans who lived there ended up moving to the west side of the valley, where it's already run down and no one cares. Then they destroyed all the building, zoned it so that it's illegal to put anything other than single family houses there, and then sold it to a housing developer. Now the city is back to normal.

So unless the city is willing to step in, you're shit out of luck.
So many cries of inequality stem from one of group
of people doing little or nothing and then bitching
about another group that actually does something
    to improve their lives.

That's the way to do it.

there's an area in Queens, NY that became heavily populated with Mexicans and it became really, really bad.
So all of those greedy landlords who were stuffing thier pockets getting 10 illegals in a apartment are now no longer able to do that.

Now I am not saying Mexicans are bad but when you have 10 families in one household it's not good for the neighborhood.

these aren't Mexicans, they are all black. The Mexicans here cause very little crime and all have jobs. I plan on going to city hall and making something happen. I am not taking a loss here, at one point I could have doubled my money on this place. I also plan on calling the media, maybe finding some republican run media group that won't put a spin on this turning me into the bad guy AKA FOXNEWS hehehehe.

Everything on this thread seems to be a little racist...Granted the situation is not fortunate with you with the crime going up...but this is not a race situation this is a crime situation...it seems like you are relating the crime that is happening in your neighborhood to the section 8 tenets...the milk has already been spilled the question is how are you going to clean it up...

That really sucks man. All I can advise you to do is move, especially if you are not in the hole yet. Seriously, the government doesn't care about people like you and me, especially the federal government. You might have a small chance if you can do something at the municipal level.

    keep us updated.

PS - Next time you hear people talking about the plite of the poor, or making blue collar workers subsidize a federal medicade program, or lowering prison terms for drug dealers, you now know what kind of people they are trying to aid.

What I meant was that no neighborhood is safe, I'm not sure if most are familier with the "White Flight" that happened in NYC decades ago but most of them fled the NYC boro's to move to the suburbs of Long Island.....well "they" followed them there, now they are moving elsewhere...when does it end.

    I liked the Doms approach.
