    Washer and Dryer

Sorry for all the appliance questions but I'm moving and I'm trying to get opinions. We have to get a propane dryer. I like the front loaders but are they really worth the extra money? I don't really want to spend more then 1000$ on a set. A front loader washer is 1000$ alone.

I wouldn't waste it on a front loader, shit all you are doing is throwing your clothes in and leaving it for 45 mins to dry.

As long as it drys does it matter?

Wifey and I bought a front loader set this year and we love it. The washer is easier on the clothes than a top loader. Front loaders use less water, less detergent, less fabric softener, less electricty, and the clothes dry faster. Plus, the cat likes to sleep on the front loading dryer.

The set did cost us like two grand though. Thank you LOWE'S for interest free financing!

We have the money right now but we didnt' start paying the mortgage yet. I don't know if I should drop 2K on a washer and dryer. You don't buy appliances to often so my thought is to get something really good. I dunno. I have so much to buy.

Buy one that will do the job right now. You never know where expenses will go. Once you have sorted out where you expenses will be for a few years, start looking at the nicer items you would like to have.

Just be careful as to what manufacturer you buy. Maytag was bought out by Whirlpool and because of that you'll have a Helluva time finding service personnel for any Maytag products.

We had a set of top loading Whirlpools for five years that worked just fine. I think it cost us $600 for the set when we bought it. The dryer needed some maintenance earlier this year, so instead of paying $150 to have a guy fix a $300 machine, we decided to just upgrade to new machines. For a young couple that's on a tighter budget though, a basic $600 set will suit your needs just fine.

Check out consumerreports.org. Lots of good info there. An annual subscription will cost you $26, but it'll be worth it if you buy a washer, dryer, and fridge.

I thought Sears had a maintenance agreement to repair those brands.

Do you have enough money for your office equipment?

Yes I do Mino. I put away 500$ for a nice desk. I already have my chair. I asked for a bunch of supplies for Christmas. I'll be good to go.

That's great so long as no one else in your area is having Maytag problems.

Maytag used to have certified repair stores as well as authorized independant repairman.

Whirpool eliminated all the independant contractors from the "approved Matrag Repair" list. A friend of mine had a dishwasher go out. He tried to call a repairman and was told his contract had been cancelled by Whirlpool. So, my friend called Whirlpool and was told it would be a month before they could get an "authorized" sears repairman out to fix the appliance.

Maytag used to make top quality stuff but these days I'm cautious.

They have a fleet of repairmen here in the NYC and Long Island, about three years ago we at Motorola installed a GPS system that would also hook up to their laptops, that way dispatch would know who to send and they would know where the customer would be located, and they can order parts online.

But again, shit never works the way it was intended.

Don't play the "better than" card, this sin't the Salvation Army of the internet. Alot of people around you will have appliances they have to get rid of b/c they got a new one as a gift, moving, moving in w/ someone, etc etc. Seriously, check it out, you can find a lot in your area where you can drive to and check them out in action, no obigations.

I buy somethings used. I am getting a squat cage used. I would be interested if I could find a front loader set used. The top loaders aren't that expensive brand new so I would dish out the money for them new.

We bought a nice scratch and dent frontoader with stand at the Sears Distribution Center for around $1100...If you live near one go se what kind of deals you can get...they have fridges and stoves too....
Coarse edged youth, the irish pendants string from their smiles
not yet plucked as to slacken the seams
and drag down the features of age,
no folds or creases from unkempt wear
    eyes of tranquilty, crystalline-beads
no sign of despair in their hair, nor their hearts
but oh they have yet to be experienced and that makes aging so very worth it...ML circa2012
