    Please critic my website

    http://cis.usouthal.edu/~group3/

I have been working on this for the last 3 days. I know the theme is ghey, I didn't pick it. I was given the theme, so I had to hunt down the artwork, and I am the one actually making the site. If you can think of an absurd story for how we caught the Mermaid and the Red Dragon that would be great. I am running out of ideas.

Also, if you have tips for the layout and/or visual design, I would appreciate it. I am not very creatively inclined so making this site has blown goats. It is due tomorrow, so I will be burning the midnight oil.

Good job, might want to expand that paper image to take up more of the screen, or create a bonus sub category link layout on the side of the page that doesnt go anywhere but looks like it should

    Just alot of empty brown

Mostly porn? I thought better of you.

I like the site, KelJu. You do need to work on the Navigation though. For example, once you click on an element, you can't get back to the home page. Yes, I do see that you have the quick-jump dropdown, but you need to keep the menu if a very obvious place. Trust me (this is one of the things that I do for a living), a lot of people on the Internet are stupid. Always keep that in mind when designing a website. They're morons.

Does this criticism have to be constructive?

Aside from the graphical issues, I have no idea wtf I am doing at this site. It is not obvious. It doesn't say the creature is based off the elements and why that is so. Aside from the D&D nerds who know this shit, I imagine you would like some other "customer" demographics.

In my HCI class, the instructor would always say, "It needs to be intuitively obvious to the casual observer." A little more explanation would be good. Content leads design, not the other way around.

Thanks for the tips, I will try and do that. I hate This shit, I don't enjoy making user interfaces. I have to take HCI next semester, maybe I will learn something.

It's the worst, because you can never be 100% correct, someone always has to come in and fuck it up by making sense.

I'd soften the sharp edges of the pictures and such and maybe get more a textured brown for the background instead of straight brown. I think it would blend better.

I know you see the dropdown as your main menu on every page. But it is at the top right and kinda out of sight. Keep your main menu prominent and central. Besides the dropdown is a 2 click process to navigate the site. A left or top menu bar will make it 'easier' to navigate.

If there is a lot of text to read, flat bg color is preferable to a textured bg.

make a visually catching graphic for the site title, instead of a standard font
