For anyone who is a college graduate...

I'm currently enlisted at Penn State for Communications... I'll have a Advertising focus, but what my question is, if I complete the degree w/ a masters in Communications, could i get a job in a Marketing position? The reason i'm asking Marketing is a focus for a Business degree.... But Advertising and Marketing are somewhat of the same field... Anyone have any input please?

    Ah, a propagandizer eh?

no sign of despair in their hair, nor their hearts
but oh they have yet to be experienced and that makes aging so very worth it...ML circa2012

Get into marketing. Advertising jobs typically pay VERY low to start and you have to work your ass off before you get anywhere. Marketing once you get into brands is much more consistent and much more room for advancement and starting salary can be twice as high. A former client of mine is a creative director for a large ad agency (Ogilvie) and this is right out of her mouth.

Try shifting over to more marketing courses and maybe get a business minor? That might get your foot in the door a little.

It all depends on how well you market yourself. Marketing is a pretty broad career path so I say yes if you are good at communication.
