    New Car

Thinking about trading in my Mazdaspeed Protege for a Mazdaspeed 3. I drove one the other day and fell in love with it. That car is so frikin fast. I thought my protege was quick. This car puts it to shame. It throws you back in your seat. So much HP and torque for such a light car. What do you guys think? http://www.caranddriver.com/bestcars...daspeed-3.html

Didn't you just buy a house? Let the dust settle and figure out what the damage is before you fall into the Debt Trap 90% of Americans are in today...if your car works fine then use it until it's beat to death...cars are not an investment they are just a means of travel...
Coarse edged youth, the irish pendants string from their smiles
not yet plucked as to slacken the seams
and drag down the features of age,
no folds or creases from unkempt wear
    eyes of tranquilty, crystalline-beads
no sign of despair in their hair, nor their hearts
but oh they have yet to be experienced and that makes aging so very worth it...ML circa2012

pretty cool car, but not your best option if you are looking for speed and power (it also weighs 3.2k pounds, not light heh)
for the same price, if you do feel you can buy a new car, id be all for a subaru... the WRX is right around that price range, and is faster (despite having 30 horsepower less than this mazda). doooo itttt

Yes I did just buy a house. I still have a car payment on my protege and if I traded it in my payment would be around the same. I think I might wait until spring. That is when my warranty runs out.

That is what I like about it. Its unassuming. It is the fastest 4cyl front wheel drive car on the market today.

Well if you can make a decent trade and not lose out go for it...I don't know why your in such a hurry to get to the grocery store and back so quick, you can always buy one of those little coolers that plug into your ciggy lighter and keep your Ben and Jerry's cold...

One thing before you trade it in get a really good detail job done on it and fix any dings and scratches, and before you take it down wipe a nice tire shine polish on the tires.

Buy high and sell low, it is the only poor financial decision you haven't pondered in the past couple of months.

Aren't you like 30 and still rent a room in a buddies house? You obviously made some brilliant finacial decisions in your life. Keep up the hard work.

At this point, I'm convinced that you're not really DoubleBase. You're someone that hacked into his account. So what was his password? Ihavespecialneeds or Idontunderstandsarcasm?

I'm pondering the purcase of a car soon too. That looks like a good deal in terms of price/performance.

However, I am probably going to buy a Dodge Neon SRT-4. I'm going to get it used though with like 20-40K miles on it. There are new ones available, or almost new (Under 10K miles on them) for pretty good prices out there. You should check it out. Also, the HP rating on the 2004/05 Neon is about 230 with 250ft/lb of torque, but that's to the wheels! That is the equivalent of around 250-260HP to the crank (AKA BHP, which is what the car you listed is rated at), and it weighs 300 pounds less than that car.

Dodge Neon's have the worst price retention.

Yes, but its still a neon. I know its fast. I've been in one. They are pretty evenly matched. I read that the MS3 beats the SRT-4.

How many cars have you owned that you simply threw out when you didn't need them anymore? How many did you sell when you were done with them?

my bro has a telefonica which he is probably getting rid off after this upcoming season.

An SRT-4 will rip a mazdaspeed a new asshole. not to mention there are so many cheap aftermarket mods one can do to that car, some bolt ons and you'll be ripping e46 m3's like nothing. only problem i have with those cars is the FWD thing. i really hate FWD and refuse to drive it when RWD is so much more fun.

Not a MS3. You can look at the stats. It is faster in the 1/4 mile and faster 0-60. Where did you come up with that statement?

you're half right, i shouldn't have jumped the gun on that one however...its not faster, fairly evenly matched although the srt-4 pulls ahead by a bit (.2s faster with a greater trap speed).
