I saw Hero the imported version and they of course, cut stuff out of the American release. Reading subtitles is not that big of a deal. No Sen ChiHiro, Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon, Team America, The Last Samurai - all contain at least some subtitles as do many others.

But the whole time? Limited subtitles are ok, other than that it doesnt sell well with me.

Either way, I wasnt planning on seeing this movie and would be surprised if it was good.

I still havent seen Passion of the Christ for that matter.

I'm not interested in the sub's ... takes away from my enjoyment of the visuals when I have to read first then process the scene second.

    BINGO.

I guess its fine if youd watch the movie twice, but this honestly doesnt look like a movie with replay value.

Mel loves the subtitles. That guy is a serious whackjob.

I own the imported Hero, it's great. Subtitles don't bother me at all, maybe you guys are slow readers and miss too much?

I love watching movies with subtitles. It's usually the only time I can recall a specific scene in a movie after only seeing it once. Plus, 99% of the time there is no significant dialogue during the action shots anyway.

There's nothing wrong with subtitles. A lot of times, there have been words that i thought were being said which came out to be a completely different word when i watched it with subtitles. Also, people with hearing disabilities need subtitles as well.

Subtitles take nothing away from a movie.

I know that his movie could have been made in English, but most movies that are subbed were originally created in another language. And 99% of all dubbing blows goat.

I haven't seen any of those. What I have seen:

    The Patriot--weak
    Maverick--dull
    Hamlet--ok but not macabre enough
    Mad Max--great

His passion for the Three Stooges is commendable though. I think he financed a stooge movie a couple of years ago.

I saw it. It's no braveheart... it was OK. It was entertaining, but I'm not rushing out to the theater to see it again or anything.
