    House warming etiquette

When having a house warming party:

    a) are you suppossed to invite people and throw the party?

b)is someone else suppossed to have it for you and make it a surprise?

    Etiquette by Rebecca

Moving into a new place is a wonderful experience and so many of us wish to celebrate this feeling. However, please do not register for gifts for your 'House Warming Party'. It is like hosting a party for yourself and telling your guests what they may give you.

I have been noticing an odd trend. Some people are beginning to plan their House Warming parties as showers. I'm sure many store owners are enjoying this trend, but it isn't proper. The person who has moved hosts her own party. There is no registering and if guests give, it is typically small home related gifts.

Don't look back ~ You're not going that way!

I also found that in a search, Little Wing. I'm curious as to what you guys think is proper etiquette.

You're the son of Doublebase? I hate to break it to you kid, but you're dad was kind of slow. When we picked teams for a debate, he was always the last one picked.

But I'm sorry to hear that he passed away. And it was a freak accident that did it. Who knew that Legos, a kiddie pool filled with AstroGlide, surgical tubing, and a donkey was a deadly combination?
So many cries of inequality stem from one of group
of people doing little or nothing and then bitching
about another group that actually does something
    to improve their lives.

You invite them over and serve them food; and don't feed them crap food lite finger foods or pizza. Feed them something nice. They bring the gifts.

It's not so much what goes ON in his brain as it is what goes THROUGH his brain. The answer would be air.

P.S. You throw the party. You serve the food. If the guests want to bring small gifts they can. A house warming is nothing more than a way to say, "Hey, you people are my friends. This is my new home and you're welcome here anytime. Now let's burn this mutha' down."

True. Also, don't invite people that you don't know very well. This sort of occasion should only be open to close friends and family, for the reason that BoneCrusher stated.

My house warming is this Saturday. There are going to be so many people coming. We did one of those e-vite things. They are great. I'm getting a keg and bunch of liquor. We're going to set up volleyball and horse shoes. Anyone wanna be my partner for horse shoes?

Ok you be the stake and I'll throw the shoes and see if I can get the shoe around your ankles, you can't flinch if I hit your shin with them though....
Coarse edged youth, the irish pendants string from their smiles
not yet plucked as to slacken the seams
and drag down the features of age,
no folds or creases from unkempt wear
    eyes of tranquilty, crystalline-beads
no sign of despair in their hair, nor their hearts
but oh they have yet to be experienced and that makes aging so very worth it...ML circa2012
