    $820,000 in new equipment

My gym (which was a Gold's) has officially closed down and will re-open under a new name. The new facility is 50,000 square feet, with an indoor pool, indoor basketball courts, indoor driving range, a track on the balcony around the gym, and $820,000 in new equipment. I loved the way the gym was setup before and I was hoping the new one was even better. From the sounds of it, it is, but $820,000 in equipment didn't sound like alot in comparison to the size of the place. Any thoughts?

820k is a ton for equipment, assuming they purchased good stuff. If they went and just bought random shit it may seem like nothing.
If sense were common, everyone would have it.

Yeah, that is quite a sum. Not sure what you mean by it not being much... I would assume the pool would cost 100k at the most, and the driving range 10k at the most. With the rest of that they can buy 35534532 squat racks

I imagine the indoor driving range is one of those computerized screens, so it probably took a good sum of the money as well.

I bet the place will be crowded far awhile and you'll have little kids everywhere because of the pool. That may suck.

It does sound like it will be fine. Of course, we dont use much of the higher technology equipped machines. Free weights is all I need. However, NEW free weights and HEAVIER dumbells would be fantastic.

As long as they didn't blow it on overpriced isolation machines like the pinky curl or thumb extender machine or something you should be looking at a fine array of workout stations...maybe they got one of those nifty rock climbing machines that spins a template of plastic rock faced rubber round and round at speeds from turtle to WHOAH slow the fuck down, I liked the gym I went to that had that it was a fun way to work in some cardio and mentally challenging at the same time.

but oh they have yet to be experienced and that makes aging so very worth it...ML circa2012

Oh man, that does sound like a really good time... I'd really like to try one of those. What gym was that? Makes the gyms I go to seem so bland. What a cool concept.

My gym is kind of like that. Over 3 total floors: Indoor pool, 2 indoor basketball courts, 5 total racquetball courts, 3 tennis courts, indoor track, etc. No driving range though.

I only go downstairs though; I only need the weights and basketball courts.

It was at the Navy gym in Great Lakes, IL our Pre-BUDS training squad would have contests to see who could last longer at full speed I could last like 15 minutes then this one rock would always be at just the wrong angle my foot would slip and I'd be hanging trying to jump hands only to the next handhold and miss...
