    I am a pagan....
Coarse edged youth, the irish pendants string from their smiles
not yet plucked as to slacken the seams
and drag down the features of age,
no folds or creases from unkempt wear
    eyes of tranquilty, crystalline-beads
no sign of despair in their hair, nor their hearts
but oh they have yet to be experienced and that makes aging so very worth it...ML circa2012

Yes, while there are a great many secular and pagan "rituals" that envelope the organized celebration of Christmas I would argue that the Birth of Christ is in fact still the "True Meaning" Hense the name CHRISTmas

    Merry Christmas all.

    I like
Dies Natalis Solis Invicti, "the birthday of the unconquered sun"

If there is anything in the "heavens" I worship it is the Sun. For without it life as we know it would not exist...

its not really a debate. Christians all over the world know the arguements against the holiday being non-christian, and yet year in and year out this is the time we remember and celebrate the birth of Christ. end of story

the birth of chirst did not occur circa chirstmas contrary to popular belief... he was born around spring according to the bible...... if you choose not to believe that, then that is fine.... you probably believe that easter is the time of his resurrection as well.......

stop assuming because it makes you look stupid. im fully aware that jesus was not born in december. your comment about easter not being the time of the resurection is niave. its pretty clear about the timeline of Jesus' death in the bible as it relates to the jewish passover. easter also falls at this time. figureing out the date of Jesus death and resurection is not difficult.

it makes you look stupid when you refuse to look over evidence, and make the comment "people continue to bring up evidence year in and out about christmas being a non christian holiday, yet it still comes down to celebrating the birth of christ" the point is that people dont celebrate it for that reason, they celebrate the presents the tree and santa claus....

we read the story of the birth of Christ found in Luke, we decorate our lawns with the nativity scene, we focus more on the signifigance of his birth in our lives........so many synics look at Christmas the wrong way.

if you want to discuss any "evidence" I refuse to look over, feel free to enlighten me o wise one

Just because Christ wasn't born in December doesn NOT mean he wasn't born at all.

Just because the resurection didn't occur around "Easter" doesn not mean he didn't rise from the dead.

I really fail to see any value in this debate other than the sheer humor of it's absurdity

    Really who gives a shit.

People of Christian denomination will have there beliefs, what impact does it have on you other then to fuel your own ego. Live your own fucking life, I am sure you don't have a perfect life to pass judgement on to others.

You know what? Who cares what the origins are the important thing is that during the coldest time of year we as humans no matter what religion or non-religion have been able to show such a humongous amount of warmth through the years. I think thats what the important thing about the holiday seasons are and why most of these traditions arose in the more extreme cold climates...everyone is getting crabby and cranky from fighting the bitter cold so we have this period of feasting, giving and togetherness to keep us from slaughtering one another. And since living in Hawaii for the past 10 years I realize that it just isn't the same as it is when it's 30 degrees outside and everyone is inside in the warmth sharing warm apple cider or hot cocoa, warm fudge, cookies, etc and just having a merry old time. Living in Hawaii I have taken for granted how wonderful it was to experience a white christmas, I think if there is one thing a person anywhere in the world should experience is a Christmas eve by the fireplace watching snow falling outside while you're snuggled up in your flannel pj's, christmas trees lights on slow twinkle or the menorah on the mantle whatever, a warm drink soothing your throat maybe a christmas show on tv or silent night playing on the stereo, family all together and having a feast the next day.

So to all of you have a feast fit for a king, eat, drink and be merry it doesn't have to be about celebrating anything except your life and love!

it is really nice to be cuddled up snug with loved ones looking out at the beastly cold. to me it's just a season to maybe open your eyes and your heart a little more. to be grateful for all the blessings we have and maybe take for granted and see the suffering of those less fortunate. and if you don't like people so much your local animal shelter could use a donation

Hey swordfish. You have some Biblical knowledge. Did you know that Satan belives there is a God and Jesus was his Son. Satan was Gods worship leader and knows the Bible better than most Christians. He just wanted to run the show himself. We Christians celebrate Christmas because it is the day that has traditionaly been when we rejoice because Jesus was born as a sacrafice to take away our sin. Check out Isaiah chapter 53. It was written hundreds of years before Jesus was born yet it describes him perfectly. I choose to make Jesus my Lord. I bow to his authority and accept his gift of salvation he paid for in blood. I praise his name daily and am not ashamed of it!
