    Exclamation Rocky 6 Review

I cant believe one hasnt already been made..

    ***MAY CONTAIN SPOILERS***

Without sounding like a critic, let me just say that this was better than Rocky 5, but doesnt have the passion seen in the previous movies. Real sad for the first WHOLE hour. And that hour couldve been used for something else. For instance, the woman interest and her son? Neither one of them needed to be in this film, edit them right out and nothing in the movie changes. And why write in the son as a half/white/half black kid? To say the world has changed? Bah.

I thought the interaction with the son was well played. However, his decision baffles me. Why did he go and make a rash decision like that in the middle of the movie, rather than to just NOT go out drinking with his friends? He had the free time.

The training scenes. Real good! Real short. No explanation or reuniting with Creed's trainer, hes just all of a sudden there.

The fight scene was recorded as if it was really being aired on HBO. Not sure that I liked that. In fact, I didnt. The fight scenes in the first movies worked just fine, why change what works? Plus, the fight was short and because of the movie's missing passion, I didnt much care for 'overcoming.' I know his opponent is a real fighter and a good one at that, but he just didnt look like much compared to his other opponents in the past. Is it because Stallone is old and putting in a fighter that was bigger than him, but younger would look more unrealistic? Ok, ill buy that.

"Reservation? Im not an Indian!" Best line of the movie.

Overall it was a pretty well done up movie. I did enjoy it a lot, but not enough to see it again. If I noticed the fight and workout scenes were short the FIRST time I saw this movie, the next time I see it they will be even shorter. What they shouldve done was remove the fucking woman and her mixed son and replaced the time with training. Seriously, nothing great happens until after the first hour of the movie...and its not even 2 hours long.

    Damn...
So many cries of inequality stem from one of group
of people doing little or nothing and then bitching
about another group that actually does something
    to improve their lives.

    Just watched the Screener DVD...

I liked it, it is a different kind of movie, but I liked it.

The biggest disappointment was no Mr. T, that was one of the things I was waiting to see. Too bad he didn't realize that he didn't need an annoying bitch in every one of the movies, I think rather than go with a love interest, he could have had T in there and made the movie about 2 old dogs living later in life. Or they could have went the P-funk way and had Rocky date Mr. T and bang him...As long as Clubber was in it.

There were a bunch of inaccuracies in the film, most revolving around Rocky 5. It's almost as if they ignored that it existed. No brain damage, Dixon never lost, etc. Kudos to the casting dept, though. I knew Rocky's real son wasn't going to be in it and I didn't think they would be able to find someone to fill his head...I mean shoes. They did a great job of getting another human caricature to play the part, hats off to them.

I also thought the ending was weird, how the dude sucker punched Rocky after the bell and then he broke his neck on that stool. And then, when Clint Eastwood administered the lethal dose of morphine because Rocky didn't want to live paralyzed. It was a tear-jerker.
If sense were common, everyone would have it.

Jesus Christ, I was pretty confused for a min, but I love the last paragraph.

However, YES, no brain damage was mentioned. I guess they had to do that though, otherwise how else would they explain how he was eligible to fight. The son did look just like him and I actually liked their dialogue together.

On a side note, someone that old and looking that in shape, what can be done about the sagging skin? Can it be sucked out? Or does it only look that bad cuz, well, rocky was FIGHTING. How many old timers out there that juice and look good go out and fight?

He could have the skin removed, I suppose, but skin just isn't flexible after a certain age and sags once the muscle goes away. An unfortunate fact of life.

It looked like he had more muscle mass on him than in any of his previous Rocky films.

The training montage could have been a good 5 minutes longer, and something about the end fight was just a bit lacking. But otherwise I really enjoyed the film.

I have yet to see the movie, but I'd agree with this from some screen shots I've seen. The guy looks HUGE. His shoulders seem real wide and full. I'd be shocked if he was heavier in his previous films. More ripped, but not as strong I'd say.

Same flaws I noticed. The movie is more so on a story rather than a fight, but seriously, the fight and the training is what really is going to sell.

Out of all the training in the other movies, Id say liked 2 or 4 the most.
