    ipod Speakers

I have a dilema. Do I go get the Bose ipod docking station for 300$ or just a 50$ set of speakers to hook up to my laptop? I want something for my gym in the basement. I also want to be able to bring it upstairs for when I have parties.

Hah, theres a thread going on right now discussing how iPods suck. If you shelled out money for the iPod, why not get the Bose?

What do you have in your home gym?
    6' 217lbs (10/18)
    Bench 365 (12/3)
    Weighted Pullups 80lbs 3x3 (3/19)
    Squat 370
    Deadlift after herniation 385lbs 3x3 (3/17)

A little over 400$ I'd say. That is just for the weightlifting stuff. I am still getting more equipment. I want a t-bar row.

One of the best investments I ever made was a set of Powerblocks. Yeah, they're pricey, but they're worth it.

Bose is amazing...without question. If money is no problem...get the Bose docking station!

I had some Altec Lansing speakers for my laptop before I bought my Ipod...so I never got the Bose. These are great speakers. They have deep, clear bass and the treble is very precise. Always on sale somewhere for around $80. (Best Buy) http://www.alteclansing.com/product_...asp?pID=VS4221 Great sound for the price.

I'm not saying they're better than the Bose...
just saying it's an alternative in a lower price range.

If you are just worried about bringing it up/down stairs I would opt for the laptop speakers. My buddy has a nice docking station for his but he does alot of tailgaiting. I think a nice set of speakers for the computer would be more than enough.

I will have to check out bestbuy and see what they got. I'd rather not shell out 300$.

Definetly recommend getting speakers for the laptop... the station is cool and fashionable, but way overpriced IMO. For 100 dollars you could get a sweet setup with a subwoofer. At school I bought a Logitech 3-piece set with a pretty diesel subwoofer to compliment the two speakers. Especially if you like more base (not sure what kinds of songs you listen to). I think I paid 60 dollars for my set, and I'm very pleased... at the very least I'd advise to go with the cheaper set like mine from a local Best Buy and see how they work out with you. Then you can return them in case they don't fit.

How cool would it be to workout with surround sound... that would be so sick... I'm gunna try to pull it off one day. Maybe like 8 speakers and shit everywhere with two subs at opposite corners

Picked up a black Bose sound dock this evening. I looked at the laptop speakers but I didnt' want to have to lug around 3 speakers. This is nicer, more efficient and way loud.

Excellent choice grasshopper, not only will it come in handy during workouts, but you can set up a small area of the room as your relaxation center, remember that although you spend a minimum amount of time beating your muscles the true process of growth is the recovery time and nothing is better than chilling in a plush throne while grooving to some tunes on a quality system...

Plus doesn't the bose system recharge the Ipod when it's docked? That would be a plus...
