Reply With Quotei've been to the rainforest in puerto rico but never knew there was one in alaska. it's temperate so not what people would expect a rainforest to be but wow. one of my before a die goals is to stand in the heart of a "real" rainforest. the typical tarzan type.

I make it a point to know something about everything. I mean, I'm not trying to know everything, but how in the hell did I miss the Tongass National Forest?
It's a freakin' rain forest in Alaska!

When I lived in Oregon we lived on the Leeward side of the mountain but half way up on it I would say that the woods there were almost like the woods I hike in here in Hawaii....I remember looking down from our mountain home and watching a herd of Elk crossing the plains area just below, and seeing bears in the little stream not far to the edge of that plains area...and one night we heard the scream of a mountain lion on the cliff above our house....I think Oregon is the next most beautiful place I've lived next to Hawaii....
