    Trust

Can you ever really completely trust another human being, unconditionally (on the condition that you first get to know that person, I suppose)? You can answer this as you, personally, or about anyone in general as a philosophical question.

I don't think these questions are that strange. They're out of the ordinary, sure, but I'm just curious as to what others think about things. I see nothing wrong with trying to have discussions about potentially philosophical questions with intelligent individuals.

    Hell I barely trust myself.....
Coarse edged youth, the irish pendants string from their smiles
not yet plucked as to slacken the seams
and drag down the features of age,
no folds or creases from unkempt wear
    eyes of tranquilty, crystalline-beads
no sign of despair in their hair, nor their hearts
but oh they have yet to be experienced and that makes aging so very worth it...ML circa2012

Ah, but I wasn't suggesting you said that. I simply said that I see nothing wrong with them. Assuming I'm paranoid (although you didn't explicitly say that) is grounds for malpractice! Arr...

I think I trust people a little too frequently actually. Not my best quality.

I just naturally can't picture people doing bad things. If I force myself to think about it, then I logically come to the conclusion that people are a bunch of fucking assholes though.

I happen to have the opposite problem. But it's kind of extreme.

I think it is very much possible, depending on the people and their connection. I see old couples who are in their 80's and they're still just as in love with each other as when they were first married. I don't know how you could live your whole life with someone and not trust them completely.

It really takes a lot out of me to trust someone. I have trusted people in the past who i thought were close friends but they went behind my back and basically backstabbed me.

As of now, there's only 2 people i trust (other than my family) and it took about a year or two for them to earn it. I'm very careful with what i do and what i say.

too often we expect people to act as we would. if we are trustworthy we expect to be able to trust others and vice versa... i was over 30 the first time i heard a person lie in court and i was shocked and surprised. i've tried to be less of a bambi since then but it's hard to fathom the levels some people will stoop to in order to decieve.

Trust is a tricky thing. For example....

You trust your significant other not to bite you while performing oral sex on you but..... would you trust them to perform brain surgery?

You trust your doctor to perform brain surgery but would you trust him/her to shoot an apple off your head?

It's a strange thing.... In my unit... there are a number of guys I trust implicitly to guard my life but there's no way in hell I'd trust them with my credit card

Only person I trust in this world is myself, and even that is a stretch.

I don't think you can trust anyone entirely, even yourself. Humans are prone to error.

I agree, I will give people the benefit of doubt. But there is always that lingering what if.

There are so many 'layers' to that question.

    What is trust?

To what Degree to you trust?

Do you trust a friend with a secret...

    or

Do you trust with your entire heart and soul...
Life is a process of becoming, a combination of states we have to go through. Where people fail is that they wish to elect a state and remain in it. This is a kind of death.

True. I got lost in the other comments and my own thoughts.

Unconditionally. hmmmmm. nowing we are HUMAN...and no human is perfect...to what degree to we believe this other human should meet our Expectations.

If our expectations are unreasonable...they will fail us.
If our expectations are too low...we fail ourselves.

    I don't know the answer.

I only have questions at this point in life...

Unconditional is what I was interested in, but feel free to open it up to varying degrees. I think it's an interesting question.
