    XBOX Mod-Chips

    Anyone know anything about these? I was just gonna throw away my XBOX since I bought the 360, but my buddy claims there a mod-chips you can buy to play all the old games for NES, Playstation, etc.

    Use emulators for older consoles.

    I would recomend a solderless mod chip (see:xecuter lite) unless you are a soldering pro, because that shit is tedious.

    The point of a mod chip is to be able to play burned xbox games so you don't have to pay for them or "legally" make back up copys. I don't really see a purpose for it anymore because it is way more trouble than it's worth, unless you want to mod a 360, which right now is not cost/risk effective.

    I play old genesis and NES games on my Dreamcast, I don't need a mod chip though, just download self-bootable emulators/mods with bittorrent.
    If sense were common, everyone would have it.

    My friend moded his to be able to run a normal PC harddrive. Now he can download movies, songs and ROMS to play on his XBOX.

    Technically the xbox comes stock with a "pc harddrive.."

    I'm sure he used a mod chip/used evolution x dashboard

    If you plan on playing online, I'd advise keeping your XBox (original or 360) mod free. M$ cracks down pretty damn hard when it comes to hacking.

    Why not just get the PC emulators for these rather than use a Dreamcast? There are some really good Genesis and Nintendo emulators out there (Genecyst for one). I couldn't do without some of the Genesis classics. That's when games were at their best!
