I think if lightning is going to strike your umbrella, it doesn't really matter if there is metal in it or not.

Just because it's raining, doesn't necessarily mean there's lightning. And since most thunderstorms are accompanied by high winds, I doubt an umbrella is gonna do you very much good.

I saw the house across the street from mine get struck by lightning when I was a little kid... It shook my whole house like crazy. I couldn't imagine being 10 feet away from a lightning strike... You'd probably still get fried.

There was a video of a soccer field being struck by lightening and all the players accors the field got shocked. Atleast I think it was soccer.

But the umbrella will increase your chances of being hit.

I don't use an umbrella, usually I am wearing clothes that were made to get wet anyway since I live by the beach, my slippers usually dry out pretty fast, my board shorts dry quick and tanktops don't hold much water, plus I have towels in my trunk so I can dry off easily if I wanted to....besides my side of the Island rarely gets lightning...

I've never used an umbrella .

That 62inch Windsheer II is quality. Umbrellas, who started those things, I bet it was French people.

Think about it -

say you are in a city in a lightning storm...there is so much other shit that lightning would strike before you.

Say you are in a rural forest area, it would strike the trees before you.

Say you are on a hillside with no forestry, well, you are fucked umbrella or not because you are the tallest thing either way.
