Name a movie that everyone thinks...
...is scary, yet you think it's lame or not scary at all.
I'll start. The Ring. |

The ring + grudge films - both jap and american versions. That whole thing with the demonic little girl angle could be done so much better IMO.
I also agree with Shiznit with The Shining. Its a good flick but hardly terrifying. Have you seen the version that they did as a TV show? They released it as like, 4x1 hour parts or something, but i saw all of them together on the DVD release. It was pretty good, stayed truer to the book than the Jack Nicholson version.

I agree on the Ring and the Shining. King hated the movie version, mostly because of Nicholson. (Jack is supposed to lose it slowly. Nicholson looks crazy from the jump.) That's why he got them to do the miniseries, which I thought was far better. (Plus, DeMorney vs. Duvall? No contest!)
I'd have to put Saw on that list to. I thought it was little more than a bad rip off of Seven, which ruled.

Resident Evil movies...not scary and just not good. And I am a RE buff! Session 9...I was told this movie was fantastic. This movie was bor-ing. Sixth Sense..once the kid found out it was a gift and not a curse, it was never ever scary again. I want to see the Messengers. A friend said it was predictable (which is an odd word coming from an idiot), hed recommend it, but not see it again. Any thoughts?

I thought Hostel's plot was more realistic and better than most horror/ suspense movies. Or it could have been the tits and partying for the first hour.
