You could use OpenMosix also, but it works at the kernel level.

I've tried both. I like Ubuntu more than Suse. Plus, I've seen a lot more online articles and support for Ubuntu than Suse.

I like Slackware myself. I think I'm going with Slack 11.

Bah, I'm lazy. I like the KDE interface, not to mention the YAST configuration manager in openSuse is kick ass.

YAST is for newbs. Although slack has a similar package manager called slack-get.

Plus slack has all the config files in easy to locate places instead of symboliclly linked everywhere.

Opensuse also uses RPM to manage software installs, I think. When I installed openSuse I got all of the patches, and there were many to RPM. OpenSuse runs extremely stable on my cluster at school, so I am installing right now.

Oh wow......I appreciate that. But I can't trouble you like that. Ill be sure to pull up this thread when I"m stuck somewhere though.

I think I'm gonna do a dual boot with xp/ubuntu, and pick at it slowly. It's quite overwhelming just to jump in.

Make sure to install Windows before Linux if you are dual booting on the same HD but 2 different partitions. Windows has a funny way of erasing the MBR of any other bootloader without asking, and GRUB or Lilo is way better than trying to use the Microsoft one.
