Confused If you dont drink, hows your "night life?"

Ive come to terms that the old slogan "theres nothing to do in this city" is a negative way of being. I get bored easily, so I drink alcohol to make my boredom disappear. It works! But its not really worth it...

So!

What do you people do for fun and escape? Do you still go to bars/clubs and not drink? I honestly would get annoyed by people if I wasnt at least buzzed, but thats what I am asking.

I figure every town has their dull sides, but people still do have fun, so what do you guys do for just plain good ol' fun? At night?

Try to exclude the alcohol in the answers.

Is there anything besides alcohol? You could try narcotics?

I dunno Akira... but starting on Monday, it's the sober life for me for at least 6 weeks. So if you find anything that will make not drinking, not suck, let me know.

After almost 2 weeks... I am back and better than ever.

I havent drunk any alcohol for a year and a bit.

Its 100% just the as it always was, except i have more money, no hangovers, and can remember what i actually did on the weekend - however crap it may have been.

I never used to go to bars very much anyway, just drink in people's houses. So i pretty much still do that, but without the drinking.

Not much help am i?

I love beer but I dont drink to excess anymore. Ill go to a bar or club have one or two and go home early. Usually if you quit the party scene you either need to get a girlfriend or an xbox

bon fires in the desert out around lake mead in nevada were fun. snow shoeing during a full moon. see i knew you weren't looking for these :P

not drinking would be really good for your body tho so um you could find ways to enjoy the extra health n energy...

I've cut drinking out to only saturday nights and maybe a glass of wine with dinner on sunday but if/when i go out on a thursday or friday night i do the same i did sans the alcohol.

Like someone else has stated already, there are always drugs

Are you sure you're not drunk right now?

I try to only drink on special occassions, and even at that, I tend to only go out on nights that really have things going on (not just nights that can be just like any other night). Last night I went out on a barcrawl for two friends' birthdays and another friend of mine got a keg at a bar so I stopped by their get together too. The whole night cost me $11 for all the beer I could drink.

As for nights I don't drink... I have a handful of friends who are semi-healthnut whom I can always just chill around with, play video games, work out with at night, watch TV/boxing, stuff like that... nothing is that boring when it's a group of close friends... but finding a female companion or several might be a good idea. What I've been doing with the girl I'm seeing now is cuddling up and watching TV shows on DVD (her idea but I'm fine with it.. she's got me watching Nip/Tuck now). Blockbuster has an unlimited rental deal for $20-$25/mo where you can rent two DVDs at the same time and then swap them out for new ones (called the "movie pass" deal). Not a bad deal.

When I quit drinking I began to develop my other hobbies. Scuba, sky diving, creek fishing, bass boat outings, getting bent up while working on my MMA, weight training, racquetball, internet, paintball and dirt bike ridding with my son, HD TV, canoing, and hiking are all the stuff that kills my time these days.

I had to make the adjustment from a "night-life" to a real life, but my life is way more fulfilling for the effort. That entire bar scene got stale ... and costly. I also smoked cig's then so it added up to way more than I even thought it was. Not to mention I don't get into near as many fights these days.

Well, last night (Friday) I lit a fire, poured 1/2 glass of wine, got out my electric drill/screwdriver, and built closet organizers.

The worst part...I was soooo content.

I went out in college. I didn't drink AT ALL then. (thought I’d go to hell~lol) But ALL my friends did. I went everywhere...Mardi Gras, spring break in Florida...out to all the parties every week. It was a blast.

Since I've been divorced, I've tried the bar scene a few times. I mostly went out with my girlfriends so I kept busy on the weekends. There are lots of nice places here. Thing was...I HAD to drink...b/c it wasn't so much fun anymore. The ladies either became bitchy or slutty...not the classy beauties I started out with.

It really wasn't for me.

Going out with a group...dancing to listen to music would be fun.

I guess I'm a bit boring. I don't mind a quiet weekend.

Are there any places you could go just hang and listen to a band? Order some sparkling water? There's always somewhere to listen to music around here.

You could visit, relax....

No headaches or hangovers, no waking up at 8:am in my car still running parked in my neighbors yard, and I get to keep what remains of my brain cells.

Not waking up with your ribs broken covered in your own blood and puke in some random house is always a good thing

Son of a bitch!

See, I am kinda single. I really dont know where to go to meet someone nice (or be available to) when I get off from work.

The gym is always a place, but some people find that pathetic.

Well It happened my first year in college, I was at this girl's birthday party drinking mixed drinks (I can't handle hard liquor, I'm a lightweight when it comes to it) got completely smashed. Then became friends with this girl's neighbors some how and we went back to the party. While I was gone from the party three other guys came in and started to drink too, by that time I was really messed up and blacked out. Next from what I heard, one of the three guys was talking about his karate background, trying to impress the ladies I guess, and I replied "karate is for little kids and stay at home mothers who have nothing better to do". He then proceeded to get in my face, where I headbutted him. Being as drunk as I was, the headbutt was the only effective strike I landed on the three men. I was easily taken down in had my ribs and stomached kicked to all oblivion ( my face was fine except for a bloody nose). After that my new friends from across the street took me to their house and let me crash on the couch. The next morning was probably the scariest day of my life being barely able to breathe and not knowing where I was.

One bad night like that will cancel out thousands of great nights drinking in my book.

I take my guard dog out for a walk a few times a week, on Thursday we go to obedience class. My GF and I go to the mall or street shops in Waikiki and search for lion shirts for me or odd pieces of jewelry for her, if not that then we look for just the right furniture or other things to decorate our house just perfectly, it's not spontaneous buying we have to find just the right things so it makes it an adventure. If nothing else we stay at home and watch a movie or 2, or she'll watch one of her fav. tv programs and I'll read a book or research stuff on my laptop. I spend a lot of my time writing poems and short stories, playing my guitar, fiddling with music software on the computer, designing tattoos or searching for new music to listen to...I also DL obscure movies and music...

Like recently I found these clips of a Disney film Dali had done in 1946 for Walt, but it was never finished...Now it will be made public on DVD...
