So many cries of inequality stem from one of group
of people doing little or nothing and then bitching
about another group that actually does something
to improve their lives.
How do you know the difference between a vampire and a zombie when it is completely dark in a cemetery?

Looks like a cool movie. Except for the fact that Will Smith is in it. sigh

Will Smith went down hill after MIB.
Doesn't look that entertaining to me and I love movies like this.![]()

NO NO NO NO NO!!!
I love Will Smith, but i love Richard Matheson's book "I am Legend" more than him. I found out about this movie ages ago and threw a hissy fit at the time.
Why do they insist on slaughtering literature like this?
You just know theyre gonna take the book, take out the parts where the audience would actually have to think, use explosions or tits to fill the gap, and then give Smith some disposable fucking catchphrase.
Why wont people just WRITE original scripts anymore? Its either Book remakes, Comic Remakes, Remakes of old Films, Films made out of TV series, or Sequels to films. Come up with something on your own, for fucks sake.

The thing that gets me isnt that western filmmaking is driven by money. Of course it's driven by money, it's a business. They want to make money.
Point taken.
Its the fact that its so damned BLATENT. At least in the past theyve tried to tell good stories, but now they cant even be bothered to sit down and come up with original ideas.
It seems like ALL the big-wigs are concerned about is how to make the next blockbuster, so they re-hash old ideas that have worked before. And people keep buying them!
It really annoys me, lol!
It's spilling over into TV aswell, i was on the PC doing some work a few nights ago and CSI (or something similar) was on the TV in the background, and i couldnt help but glance over when this exchange started (paraphrasing):
Girl (Using Phone Booth): You have to help me!
Detective Something (In office): Whats the matter? Are you hurt?
Girl: I think i know how my husband died. I think he found something out that somebody didnt want him to know and they got rid of him!
Detective: What?
Girl: I dont know! But i think they think that i know, and now i think they're after me!!!
Now despite the over-use of the word "think" in there, that scene must have been used at least 20 times in the past. I almost threw up with anger!
I love films, but the last year i've had to look outside the western world for anything decent to watch, because its just gotten so bad i cant handle it.

you said it yourself.....it's a business. It's a safe investment to produce something that's proven to work. Trying new ideas is a risk. It could flop. Not to mention it's cheaper to take a story already written.
i agree on hollywood films being crap in the last few years. The general public probably doesn't know that a large portion of Western films are actually remakes of eastern films. Often times they come out worse. The Departed is the exception, it was a little better.
Eastern and European films are the shit now. The German film Das Leben der Anderen was awesome.

There have been a few major films over here that ive liked. Hot Fuzz being one of the most recent.
For the most part though, i find myself going down the local DVD shop and buying stuff by "Tartan" films. The other day i saw a German one actually, called "Antibodies" (English subtitles) and it was really good. Refreshing spin on the whole serial killer angle.
And even though its based off a comic, OldBoy from Korea is my favourite film ever.
