You dont have a nice body! No! It is not good!

Do you think it is a good idea to tell people about what you think of their body?

I mean that way you could help them. Because sometimes people dont know if they need to be more healthy.

Depends on the person. Would you walk up to someone on the street and say that? Or would it be reserved for only your family and friends?
Today I can do what others will not so that tomorrow I will do what others cannot.

The difference between winners and losers is that winners do things that losers don't want to do.

Tough call, it really depends on the person. Some people are really sensitive about that, often anorexic or really fat people. Many of them know they have a problem, they just can't help themselves. If you do, it's best to make sure that they know you just care about them, and want to make sure they're ok. That is, unless you hate that person and want them to commit suicide so you can steal their girlfriend and PS3.

But on the other hand, if someone actively takes care of their body, then they might find it helpful. Like if one of my personal trainer friends said that I needed to work on my delts or some minor thing like that. Since I'm a bodybuilder, I would appreciate that kind of advice. Sometimes it's hard to step outside yourself and judge your own body.

But I would say you have to be pretty close to someone to start making comments like that, it can be a sensitive issue.

Its hard, I had a hot girlfriend in highschool and she would give me shit bout not having a six pack. She kept saying it and said she would give me a complex. She kind of did. I got a six pack but now being healthy keeps me motivated. If I feel fat, that makes me want to eat more

At the very least...I would start with some positive compliments over a period of time. It doesn’t necessarily need to pertain to their body…just any compliments which are sincere.

After a relationship (even if it is a casual acquaintance) is formed, you could ask if they’d like some of your thoughts/help.

    Or...

    To be even more helpful...
Just tell them they could get rid of their fat belly if they stopped eating Twinkies and Cheetos for breakfast.

I've noticed that the more in shape I get, the more I notice fat people. I'm constantly seeing negative things in other people's bodies. However, I just keep my mouth shut.

I like to point at laugh at fat people from a distance.

    Why from a distance?

Because then I'm safe from their gravitational field.

Heh, this reminds me of something from an old game. It was called Fallout 2 (it came out in '96, I think).

At one point you meet this fat woman who says, "There's a thin girl inside me trying to get out. It's her fault for standing so close to the buffet."

This topic reminds me of Al Pacino in Devil's Advocate. He talks about people being under pressure. "Some focus...others fold." Simplistic way of thinking, but it works.

If I have a gfriend, for example, thats getting heavy, ill use postive feedback for a while, but when that runs dry, Ill insult her. Sometimes the latter works better. Kind of like a "ill show him" mentality.

In any case, my best friend is fat. <ahem> She is fat. She is very self-conscious about it, but she knows what to do. Shes your typical person with excuses though. Never has "time" for exercise or never has "time" to cook decent meals ahead of time. The woman is home all day with her 3 year old, usually laying around, she cant cook while the kid is asleep? Bullshit.

    But what can ya do?

I spent a year of my life researching and writing a book called "Why fat people need a slap" - it dealt with the psychology behind obesity and how to deal with it in simple steps. It was supposed to be shocking and 'no holes barred' - needless to say publishers didnt like it. People prefer to be told its not their fault and that fatness just happened to them - like bad luck or something. Its just the way people are. Now me? I take the mickey out of fat people all the time!
I'm 34 - when am I officially an old fart?

    exactly my thoughts.

but when people say 'am i attractive/in shape', how can you say no without being mean? A lot of the time, the people who ask don't want the truth, they just want reasurance.

As a healthy/active person, I've noticed the unhealthy and overweight my entire life. However, recently I've begun to have an actual disdain for them. I don't know why, and I'm not certain I like myself for it. But, damnit, they just don't care for themselves. I see no difference between someone who eats themselves fat and a crack fiend ruining their life. Both are severe detriments to their health and longevity.

I also can't stand those who complain about being overweight and do nothing about it. My dear, fat friend, quit eating so much and you will lose weight. Hell, you don't even have to exercise!!

    Yargh.

edit: None of this is directed to those who have the biological obesity pieces of DNA. That's not their fault and I would never claim that it is. My anger and disdain is directed to those who do not have biological obesity and are just lazy, eating too damned much.

As a side note, as I've aged, my metabolism has slowed down. I've made adjustments to my diet to compensate for this. Hardly what most other people seem to be doing...

Yeah....when I went on the competitive BB route, my GF became suddenly interested in fitness. SHe asked me to tell her what I thought of her body and to help to achieve her goals.

    BIG MISTAKE

I learned...next time its going to be "you are perfect the way the are"...unless she's getting seriously fat, then I'll have to say something.

I'm not going to post what I actually said...it was pretty harsh. But it was the truth....and I still stand by what I said...I just wouldn't say it now.

Unless somebody is acting stuck-up about their appearance I see no reason to belittle them by telling them they aren't attractive.

I have 2 friends that I have an understanding with that we will tell each other when one of us has something that needs work. The rule is only tell them things that they can work on or fix.

If one of us is wearing something stupid, we will tell them, or a booger in their nose, or something like that.

I'm always cracking jokes about fat people with my girlfriend, like the other day at the mall we were wallking together then these 2 fluff and stuff chicks cut me off and I couldn't get around and I could hear my GF talking but she didn't realize I was not near her....when I finally caught up I said she'd have to repeat what she said because I was stuck behind a herd, then I pointed to the 2 doublewides and she slapped my arm laughing and said "why are you so mean???"
