I've played all of the final fantasies, except 10-2, and 11.

    The best in order:

    FF7
    FF10
    FF8
    FF9
    FF6
    FF1
    FF5

I also own the entire Suikoden series. Great games, really hard to find the first 2.

Chronotrigger is also one of my all time favorites.

I used to play them when i was a kid, all the time.

Is it true that FF7 is being re-made for PS3, or is that just rumor. I have seen screen shots for it on 1up.com

There have been rumors for years about this.

    And square kept saying no.
But it was confirmed in one issue of GI (game informer) that they were indeed remaking it, except it would have 12's battle system.

Btw, I haven't played 12 either, so i left it out.

    I never finished chrono cross.

As a matter of quality of story, FF II and III are unrivaled in video rpgs. The latest installment XII, I think, was disappointing.

Final Fantasy is the best RPG series of all times. 1-10 were all fantastic, but FF-X2 sucked major donkey balls. I haven't played 12. I got out of playing video games.

Baldur's Gate, Baldur's Gate II, Icewind Dale, Icewind Dale II + all the expansions are great games. Very time consuming though.

    Quality of story??
    You joking?

All the early FF's had basic, over-used storylines, that last maybe 20 hours of game time depending.

Have you even played 7 and up?

7-10 all have good story lines, though 7 has the coolest antagonist.
And 10 has the best graphics and more memorable characters (as in more that are memorable, not more memorable).

Cloud will always be the coolest hero, and Sephiroth will always be the coolest bad guy.

Clouds omnislash limit break was the shit. The FF7 story was just too cool.

That is strange. 2 and 3 were also on nes. Now remember that 56 and 6 were released in the us as 2 and 3. The real 2 and 3 were only released in Japan, but I founf a nes emulator and the roms, that someone was nice enough to go back and reprogram the speech buubles and translate them to English.

I dont get why everyone likes number 7.

I went ahead and bought a greatest hits ps1 for the first time ever and it was the 8th one. I loved it. So I bought 9 then 10. 10 was good too, great music. 9 was good but more kiddy like...

I finally found a non-beat up 7th one and I didnt get hooked. I even played X-2 and got more hooked than 7. Granted, if they remade the 7th one, then Ill prolly like it, but as far as empathising(sp?) with the 7th characters? Forget it.

Growing up in school, I was Squall like a motherfucker, so that maybe why I am partial to 8. Plus, I loved the music. Not sure which music was better, 8 or 10's...

the old ones have basic stories but they are good. 7 without doubt has the most complicated story. The first time I played FF7 I didn't understand it much, but the second time it was the most amazing game ever. Really emotional game. To be honest, a lot of the enjoyment came after I finished the game, just thinking about it. All of them are really philosophical games.

See, "most emotional" game? I cant see how. Its too out of date for me to see it that way. The characters are just flat pixel plates. You have to read everything. Then again, I started playing Final Fantasy at 8, the very next one. 8 is built off of 7, making 7 the pioneer, but I dont care. As far as emotionality goes, Id say 10 would be the one only cuz it uses more up to date technology. If technology isnt whats selling you, then I guess a book can.

When Doom II came out, I never wanted to play Doom again. Why? Cuz it had all the bells and whistles the first one had and more.

They should remake it. I honestly see it happenning too since games are basically becoming movies...and movies are being duplicated.

I agree with you. FF10 was definetly the most emotional, beautiful ending. I think the graphics of FF7 made it difficult. you can't even tell if someone is laughing or crying. However, the thing that got me in 7 was that I was able to empathize for the characters. I was always wondering what was going through there heads like wow I wonder how cloud must feel after his lifetime idol killed his mom and burned down his town. that sort of thing. I guess I'm just trying to say it's a great story. one of the best

It was long ago, I must have my numbers mixed up. The first 2 for SNES then.
