Define over doing it ... you were very vague. For example, you imply by omission that weights are over doing it when you suggest he should stay with bw.

my bro is overweight. so it would be better for him to do light bench then a pushup because it would be easier on the joints IMO

I don't think he is that overweight that he can't do pushups, but I don't know your brother. I do know that I was 90lbs overweight at one point and doing pushups didn't have any bad effects on my joints personally.

I don't know his brother and I don't know exactly what he's doing, so I can't really be specific. I'm not saying he's overdoing it I'm just warning that it could affect his hormone balance if he does. At 12 puberty is an issue and studies show obvious changes to the concentration of testosterone brought on by even light and moderate weight lifting.

If a kid is 130lbs (I would say this is relatively overweight for a 12 year old) and he/she is doing BW exercises it's not so bad because he/she has to carry that weight around on his/her joints all day as it is. (that was a lot of boy/girl usage haha I'll just say my example is a guy)

But let's say this young person is lifting as much weight as possible all the time, this has the potential for doing more harm than good. I'm not telling people what to do, I'm just very cautious and don't want to see anything bad happen to anyone.

Here's a link to a study on testosterone response

Looking at that study alone one would have to conclude that using more energy than what is needed to move our body weight around the planet will increase concentrations of serum testosterone.

What did the body DO with that increased testosterone? Why did the body produce it?

I have to ask, before I get any further into this. Why exactly is it you are challenging me like this? All I did was give a simple suggestion.

Well, for starters... I never said "it pisses me off" nor am I pulling a "180".

This thread posed the question, "what annoying questions or comments do people you see day to day make..."

Like I mentioned previously, I don't want to seem ungrateful but, it does annoy me when people WHO SEE ME DAY TO DAY want to interupt my workout and swap "war stories".

Perhaps I should have been more specific.

Glad you cleared that up then.
