NZXT Lexa case & 600 Watt OCZ - $229
2GB (2x1GB) Corsair XMS2 - $150
Evercool Silver Knight Heatsink - $50
DVD Burner with Lightscribe - $25!!
125GB Hard Drive - $12!!
Primary HD (Windows XP Pro) and extra DVD burner pulled from another case.
22 inch Widescreen LCD - $329
Total: $1459.00
Putting it all together: Priceless

I don't really enjoy putting computers together anymore. I have been doing it since I was 15 years old. It is a hell of a lot easier now than it was 9 years ago. I use to have a cool looking case with the blue lights everywhere and the transparent side panel. Now my main desktop doesn't even have the same color peripherals. My burner is white, my case is black, my monitor is tan, and my mass storage drives are grey.

Coarse edged youth, the irish pendants string from their smiles
not yet plucked as to slacken the seams
and drag down the features of age,
no folds or creases from unkempt wear
eyes of tranquilty, crystalline-beads
no sign of despair in their hair, nor their hearts
but oh they have yet to be experienced and that makes aging so very worth it...ML circa2012

Holy shit, I didnt know he had pics!![]()

Tis a shame. You ruined a perfectly good computer with that AMD.
Vista will probably be pretty stable and decent by 2014... of course then there will be threads bashing the newest Microsoft operating system and people saying they will stay will good old Vista.
It happens everytime a new OS comes out. It's buggy and incompatible for the first couple years. People stayed with Win 95 and 98 instead of going to Win NT because of compatibility. Then people were slow to adopt Win 2000 and Win XP. Vista is nothing new and actually works pretty good on a brand new PC with all new hardware.... once all resonable hardware is newer than Vista (and its been through a bunch of patches), all the bitching will stop.
How so? That's the fastest AMD x2 right now.
And yes, it is a power hog for AMD. But it is still sizzling fast at 3.0 ghz a core.
It will run anything he'll throw at it.
Yea, money better spent on a 6600 conroe OC'd but oh well.
AMD has been the champ for the past 5 or so years...and they will rise and over take Intel again soon.![]()
Core 2 duo is where it's at.
I'm actually purchasing a 6700 extreme edition for a friend today.
AMD will never get the market share back.....never! They were only ahead of Intel for 2-3 years, not 5 and that was only in the PC market share. They can no longer keep up with Intel. Intel is light years ahead of AMD in R&D. On top of it, AMD cut back on their R&D budget even more while Intel increased theirs. Their mistake last year was purchasing ATI. Have you seen their stock? Have you seen how fast it's dropped? Remember, AMD isn't alive in many of the markets that Intel is involved in and as they keep losing the market share things will keep sinking deeper.

Wow. A lot has changed since I built computers. I remember just getting "the higher number" and having an above average powered computer. In other words, Pentium 1.0GHz < Pentium 2.2GHz. Now its AMD+ or whatever the fuck.
Theres gotta be a simple way to put it...anyone want to chime in? Whats this "core" shit?

So many cries of inequality stem from one of group
of people doing little or nothing and then bitching
about another group that actually does something
to improve their lives.
the 6000 on the AMD chip kind of stands for 6.0 GHz... but it is dual core which really means it is like having 2 - 3.0GHz chips. It was getting more and more difficult to push chips faster and faster so instead of doing that, they introduced dual cores... so now you have real multi-tasking instead of processes swapping for processor time from a single core chip. It's kind of like a 2 processor board except it is all done on the chip. We are seeing quad cores too and it is just a matter of time before they start doing more than that... and programming is going to become a lot more multi-threaded because of it.

Thought that was good.
You should see that Intel chopper in person though! It's sweet!
Sometime in July, Orange County Choppers are airing the show where they built it.
