We found a bedroom set for our new house. I am currently looking into mattresses. What types do you guys like? My mom told me about pillow tops. I don't want a mattress that is really hot. My buddy told me he got a pillow top mattress with down fellows and its really hot in the summer. We got a california king sleigh bed. I would like to spend up to 1k. Are there any good websites out there that offer discount mattresses? Thanks.

I sell mattresses for a living so I can help. Hands down, get a Simmons Beautyrest. They are the best ones made and will last for years. The off brands all suck and are made from cheapo materials that will make you hot and wont last. A decent Cal King will cost about 1500$ and up but here is the catch. Almost all mattress stores can discount the items quite a bit. If you came into my store waving 1000 or 1200 for the same 1500 unit, Iyou could have it for that price. Theye are like any other item you buy, the mark up is about 50%. Store will usually sell it at a 30% profit margin so you can do the math. Any lower than that and your just being a jerk. These guys are in business just like evryone but will help you if needed.
Get the regular Simmons Beautyrest Classic Pillowtop. There will be a number of names for them but they will all be close to the same thing. It's best to get it in a store so you can try them out. Would you buy a car or shoes on the internet? Probably not.
Don't but the Tempurpedic or any other trendy ones, they are all right but really its just a gimmick. They are also crazy expensive.
True story...
all other spring frames are made by Leggett and Platt
(I used to work for them)
I however own a Select Comfort mattress and will NEVER need a new one
The select comfot is the best mattress simply because it is adjustable
if you want it softer, you make it softer, if you want it hard, you make it hard...
If your mood changes, or you hurt your back or something you can adjust the mattress so you can sleep better...
Also your wife or GF can adjust her side different than yours
so both of you are comfy...
Its win-win
Trust me
I went to the select comfort store at my local mall,
signed up for their mailer, about a month later
they will send you a coupon for factory refurbished units
(which are brand new, they just cant be sold that way)
those units are about 1/2 the cost
I paid about $650 for their upgraded King 4000 level
I think it retailed for like $1600
Had for about 6 years now and it RULES
Period.

We got a firm and then I got one of those twin size 4" memory foam toppers for my side, I've slept on too many floors and hard couches in my day, I sleep much better on soft things...
Coarse edged youth, the irish pendants string from their smiles
not yet plucked as to slacken the seams
and drag down the features of age,
no folds or creases from unkempt wear
eyes of tranquilty, crystalline-beads
no sign of despair in their hair, nor their hearts
but oh they have yet to be experienced and that makes aging so very worth it...ML circa2012

not to get off topic but fletch ur 145???????/ damn how tall are you?

We tried out the pillow tops. She thought it was to soft. We ended purchasing a Serta Classmate Plush for 900$.
I've had a simmons beauty rest pillowtop for 5 years. I love it. Expensive little fuckers lol but it's nice. I was thinking about a tempu-pedic. They looks so comfy but then I hear people complaining about how uncomfortable they are all the time.
