Hell, there are weapons that can kill you using sound

not a weapon just like, a little computer.

    and in that event.

I do. Mostly just in weaponry.
Sure all the new computers coming out are cool, but, how far can we really go?

look at all the weapon we got here in the US and where getting are ass handed to us in iraq by homemade bombs rigged up with a garage door opener. We could just nuke the whole country but thats not good when the only reason you have for being ther is building a democracy. tech is overrated just look at the search for Bin Laden

    You haven't seen anything yet...

Technological growth feeds technological growth. All technology (not just computers) falls under Moores Law. The doubling rate gets shorter and shorter as time goes on. It took thousands of years for man to get to the point of horse and carriage. The doubling rate was extremely long. Starting at the end of the last century, the rate was finally fast enough that we started to take notice.

In the first 50 years we went from steam engines and basic electricity to everyone having a car and television. Large scale radio. Life expectancy in the US hit about 68 in 1950.

But that was nothing compared to what would happen in the next 30 years (1950-1980)Computers and video games came out. TV went color. Remote controls. CD's, VCR's. Life expectancy rose to about 72.

The years from 1980-2000 were even more impressive. Cell phones, faster computers. First glimpses of high def TV. Genetic engineering. Internet. 74 is a good life expectancy.

Since 2000... Massive miniturization of all electronics. Cloning. Television resolution has doubled and is a fraction of the cost. Cell phones are no longer 5 pounds. Text messaging. Wireless internet in public places. Cell phones and calculators that are more powerful than any 1980 computer. MP3's, DVD burners. Life expectancy went up to 76.

And the stuff they are working on for the next 5-10 years? Cancer treatments involving nanotech that can destroy cancer cells without harming any other cells in the body. Materials like carbon nanotubes that are 8 times stronger than steel and a fraction of it's weight.

The progress time is getting shorter and shorter. Within 50 years, human life expectancy should be increasing by at least a year every year with new disease treatments and age preventing/reversal therapies. A $1000 computer will have more processing power than the human brain. Instead of our complete technology knowledge doubling every 10 years, it could be doubling every 6 months... and then the new technology provides the means to double every 4 months or faster. Unenhanced humans will not possibly be able to compete with computers or even be able to follow or comprehend the speed of discoveries and advancements that computers are making. Nanotech will provide solutions for our energy needs while at the same time cleaning up existing pollution and making EVERYTHING 100% recyclable. Stores will disappear as everything becomes information technology and home nanomanufacturing provides us with all our material needs for pennies for a pound of just about anything whether it is food, clothing, electronics. We are already working on manipulating matter on the atomic scale... it is only a matter of time before we are the masters of matter.

Haha it's funny because we were supposed be extinct like 3000 years ago.
All of this advancement, and it's only a matter of time before our species comes to an end

What are you afraid of? Someone will make a virtual voodoo tile out of one of the pics in your gallery and toss you on their little computer table and manipulate you to their passions desire?

I haven't seen any evidence to suggest anything has to come to an end. In 1000 years, come back and tell me if you still feel this way.

The only thing that will end, is the amount of livable space on the planet.
    Hell we're getting close already.

And if we start living even longer...

But I feel like Nature will curb this problem. I'm sure some huge epidemic disease will come and wipe out a 3rd of the population within the next 20 years.

The amount of livable space on the planet is largely because of our technology. Have you flown over the US? There is a lot of unused land. If pollution and agriculture were not an issue, there would be lots. Especially when a large percentage of the society chooses to spend most of their time in virtual worlds. Why pay for a 2500+ sq foot home with a huge lot and swimming pool when you can have for a fraction of the cost a 1000 sq foot home with no lot but 5000+ sq feet of virtual living space and 50 acres of virtual land that you can enter and interact with and cannot tell the difference from real life except that you have better control over the pool temp, the weather, and your living space never needs cleaning?

Earth has plenty of space, especially now with solar tech and devices that can convert potable water from the air you could live anyplace on this planet you want to now....hydroponic gardens...hell we could live on the moon, which by the way is half right now outside and looks like a bowl or cup and there was a wispy cloud right above it, now I see why Jack Kerouac said "the moon is a piece of tea" "maybe he meant Peace of tea as the peace you get when you smoke some tea?
